This place was a hidden gem we wished we found earlier. We stayed in the suite and the amenities and facilities were astonishing. From the hot tub outside (which can be converted by an electric awning to get more privacy or be protected from rain) which we used every night, to an incredible bathtub which was prepared with all the necessary to make a bubble bath. We truly find relaxation and luxury in this place. It helped us to recharge our batteries while enjoying being surrounded by nature. Another important asset was the staff. They all were extremely friendly and supportive. They could be reached at any time and always ready to fulfill any request. We are very thankful of the surprise we found in the room for our birthday. We will never forget. Thanks a lot for making this the best stay in Scotland and we are proud to recommend this to everyone!

Views from the restaurant and outside at the picnic tables was incredible. Dinner was really good. Breakfast was well organised and tasted good. We stayed in the apartment which had a great kitchen and good living room. Bath was fantastic. Be aware you need to go up steps to get there. We were right above the very lively oub and coukd not hear any noise at all. So soundproofing must be good! There are a little set of shops close by but if you plan to cook or make your own food, collect your supplies at a bigger supermarket before you get there. Everything is very clean and tidy. Staff are friendly and go out of their way to do everything well. We wished we had booked for longer.

It was one of the most amazing experiences we had during our stay in Scotland. Owner was friendly, helpful and invited us for the dinner for free. Also we had to leave soon in the morning so we got sandwiches ready in the fridges which we just picked up before we left. We were so lucky that we met a guide who was staying over the night in the hotel and he was so kind that he put on traditional clothes and brought his claymore. We spend several hours together talking about Scotland, traditions, drinking and eating. Also, we got plenty of recommendations what to see during our trip. Even we spend just one night there, I will never forget it. Thanks :)

Perfect location to explore Ardnamuchan. Good wee shop. Fuel pumps are 10 miles away! Local B & B do lovely meals if you book! Nice friendly wee Village. Lovely sail up Loch Sween with running commentary of the history and sightings of Sea Eagles, Golden Eagles, Black Throated Divers and more! The sail ended at Kilfinnan with a service bus ride to Acharacle! Perfect break and glorious weather for us🌞🤩

Acharacle is an ideal central location for exploring Moidart...

Acharacle is an ideal central location for exploring Moidart, Sunart and Ardnamurchan. There are plenty of short walks (up to 5km) within a 30-minute drive as well as more remote mountains, such as Ben Resipol. The driving distances aren't far but the roads are mostly single track so allow more time for courteous and careful driving. There are plenty of Forestry Commission car parks for wildlife hides and nature walks. There are fewer signposted mid-range walks (10-15km) but they do include the superb Silver Walk along the shores of Loch Moidart (starting from Tioram Castle) and the walks around Kentra Bay. The Ardnamurchan peninsula is stunning! The lighthouse guide is incredibly interesting and well-informed and Sanna Bay is beautiful. There's a nice walk there from Portuarik. There are boat trips on Loch Sunart and Loch Shiel. Acharacle is approx. 1 hour drive from Mallaig (ferry terminal) if you also want to visit the small islands (Eigg, Muck, Rum and Canna). It's a great base if you enjoy the outdoors and want to get away from the crowds.

Coille Darach is a first class B&B situated near Strontian...

Coille Darach is a first class B&B situated near Strontian in the Ariundle Forest. The house was new, immaculate and comfortable, the breakfasts excellent. Mary and her husband John were friendly, kind and helpful, we really enjoyed our all-too-short stay. The whole of the Ardnamurchan peninsula is wild, beautiful and very interesting geologically. Acharacle village is a few miles from Coille Darach, a pleasant place at the end of Loch Shiel (on which are boat trips) with sandy bays nearish at Kentra Bay and Ardtoe. Also near is Castle Tioram. Cafe Tioram at the end of the village provided a good light meal. Nearly all the roads (and there are very few) are single track so need care and courtesy, but are all part of the delight of the area.

This makes a superb base to explore the stunning...

This makes a superb base to explore the stunning Ardnamurchan Peninsula, especially trips to the lighthouse ( = furthest westerly tip of mainland UK), Mallaig and Glenfinnan Viaduct. I would like to have stayed longer, so I could use the short ferry to the island of Islay. The road to the lighthouse is a bit like being on the big dipper as it winds through the breathtaking countryside. There was v little traffic when we went in late May - so it was an utter delight - but this would be v unpleasant, arduous and even dangerous if it was v busy. The lighthouse itself is a superb attraction with an extraordinarily well stocked cafe considering the barren, remote location. Mallaig is quite a nice town, and excellent for sea food, which, as a vegetarian was not for me, alas! There's also Glenfinnan Viaduct which is certainly spectacular. There are also the beautiful and unspoilt golden sand beaches of Arkaig. There are other attractions too, all wrapped up in the most glorious scenery and welcoming Scottish hospitality. But think on: Scotland is practically litter free, of which the Scottish and visitors can be truly proud. KEEP IT THAT WAY OR STAY AWAY!

This luxury pod is superb in every way. It was perfect for one and would be excellent for a couple - similar to staying in a roomy boat or caravan. Despite being just off the main road, it was wonderfully quiet and dark. There are good places to eat in Mingarry and Acharacle. There is also a well-stocked shop in the latter. It provided the perfect base to explore Ardnamurchan - an hour to the lighthouse through spectacular scenery. Getting there is much easier, now the Corran Ferry has reopened for cars.

The location was in lovely Acharacle, what's not to like! The room was large, airy, spotless with a very comfy bed and sofa, beautiful views from the front and back windows and a magnificent shower in the en suite. Breakfast was splendid and Liz and Innes the most welcoming and kindly hosts. Little Effie was a bonus as was the Welsh flag flying on a pole outside for us, along with a German one for the other guests!

For those who don’t know the area, the hotel is a long way down the peninsula but it is special enough to make the trip. It has fabulous views, beautiful rooms, a garden set up with comfortable pods to relax in, and, most importantly, an owner and staff who go out of their way to make your stay special. Breakfast is superb, evening meals are good and the ducks will keep you amused.

We loved the cosy and well facilitated cottage. It was beautifully decorated and the location was amazing. Acharacle is such a lovely little village, it has all the amenities such as an excellent bakery, cafe, shop. Ardnamurchan peninsula is such a special place and we will certainly return in the future and we would love to stay at the Belmont cottage again.
