I loved my stay at the Alton House Hotel, as I have never been to Alton before the staff were polite friendly and extremely helpful, I also made two new friends whilst I was there which is truly fantastic. I would recommend this hotel to any one that asked as in my eye's there is no better place or people.

Really lovely location.

Really lovely location. Quite easy to get too and room was clean and nicely decorated. The food was of a very high standard. Only issue was parking but that's down to the fact that the restaurant is very popular with the locals so to be expected. Didn't get to visit any of the local attractions as I was there for an event.

The location was excellent as we wanted to ride on the Watercress Line heritage train and the station is about a 5 minute walk away. There are bus stops right outside the hotel if you want to go elsewhere. The car parking facilities are good. There is a large Waitrose supermarket adjacent to Alton railway station. We visited Chawton House which is nearby. The gardens there are beautiful and the cafe is excellent, lovely home made cakes. Maybe more attention should be paid by the maintenance staff to ensure door locks work properly, and basin plugs hold the water!

Alton is a lovely small town, the countryside surrounding it is very picturesque with lots of quaint villages , including Chawton home to Jane Austin. There is also the heritage watercress steam train that runs from Alton .

This was our second stopover at the Swan Hotel and we had another great stay. Particular thanks to Mandy for making us feel welcome and being friendly and helpful, and to Louisa in the restaurant for being so attentive. Dinner was very good with plenty of choice. The room was comfortable and clean and we had everything we needed. The location is ideal for exploring the local area and within walking distance of Jane Austen’s house.

Very pleased to be upgraded which we did appreciate. Comfortable bed, easy to work shower with immediate hot water, plenty of tea and very tasty bagged coffee. Could look out of the windows which faced the front of the hotel and it was interesting to see how may locals arrived to have a drink. After unpacking went to bar for a local beer triple fff which we did enjoy. Staff were excellent, stand out praise for Annie and Abbie.

Everything! All the finished in the huts were to a high standard. We’ve stayed in some very nice hotels and we think this shower is up with the best. Having the use of the hot tub and pool was absolutely amazing we loved it and made full use of them. Lovely woodland walks just through the secret gate, we even found a steam train station.
