We had a warm welcome at the reception desk. The room was sufficient. The breakfast is particularly good. The personel very kind. The menu for diner offered enough choice. I would sincerely recommend the Swann Inn if You go to Alton, Chawton, Winchester. A perfect place to be.

This place is perfect in every way and so much more than I expected. Owner was lovely and on hand if needed, location was perfect for looking at stars and just enough out of the way. Hut was exceptional as was the hot tub and pool. Can't wait to come back.

We had a wonderful stay. We arrived after the restaurant was closed and there was a very easy after hours access system. We had a lovely breakfast and even though they were closed there was no problem with me doing an hour of work in the restuarant after check out, and we were even offered complementary tea. The rooms were very comfy and clean. Would definitely come stay again.

Really lovely location.

Really lovely location. Quite easy to get too and room was clean and nicely decorated. The food was of a very high standard. Only issue was parking but that's down to the fact that the restaurant is very popular with the locals so to be expected. Didn't get to visit any of the local attractions as I was there for an event.

The location was excellent as we wanted to ride on the Watercress Line heritage train and the station is about a 5 minute walk away. There are bus stops right outside the hotel if you want to go elsewhere. The car parking facilities are good. There is a large Waitrose supermarket adjacent to Alton railway station. We visited Chawton House which is nearby. The gardens there are beautiful and the cafe is excellent, lovely home made cakes. Maybe more attention should be paid by the maintenance staff to ensure door locks work properly, and basin plugs hold the water!

Alton is a lovely small town, the countryside surrounding it...

Alton is a lovely small town, the countryside surrounding it is very picturesque with lots of quaint villages , including Chawton home to Jane Austin. There is also the heritage watercress steam train that runs from Alton .

I cannot give an unbias view as I live in Alton however, there is so much to do. Walking, historical places, wide and diverse places to visit all in easy reach. Winchester, Portsmouth, Salisbury, Chichester, the coast, New Forest. Something for everyone whatever age and ability.

The hotel was excellent, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The room was clean and tidy the facilities in the room were good, the bed comfortable. Breakfast was in with the cost, and was really good. Full marks all round, q loved staying there and will revisit if at all possible.

The location in the centre of very interesting and friendly Alton was just right; our room was on the ground floor, clean and quiet in itself; the parking was free and meals could be accessed easily by my husband using this walker.
