Very spacious and clean. The bedrooms were huge. Nice new bathroom. Separate lounge with sofa and dining table. Location was excellent, right in the middle of Appleby, but the apartment was very quiet.

❣️🏠 This little gem of a cottage was a lovely place. Clean and tidy and very warm and cosy. The cottage had everything we needed. A real home away from home. The bathroom is stunning. I was so comfortable staying here and the bed is enormous! If you’re coming to Appleby then definitely stay here! 😇

This is a gorgeous tiny little cottage, and so beautiful, warm, comfortable and cosy. The bed was super comfortable and we had the best nights sleep. The owners left us some chocolates, milk, biscuits, beer, wine and jams which was so nice. Everything we needed was provided. The cottage is adjacent to a fabulous pub where we ate breakfast every morning and had dinner one evening. The food was great and the pub staff are so friendly and welcoming . The pub had live music one night but once inside the cottage we, couldn’t hear a thing . Parking was for the cottage is outside the front door which was perfect. Opposite the cottage is a short walk down to the River, the weir and a ford . It’s very pretty there and a lovely area to walk our dogs. The pretty town of Appleby is only a 10min walk away.

This was a great overnight stay after a loooong day on our bikes. The helpful, welcoming staff secured our bikes overnight in a locked function room. Our room was absolutely huge, the bed comfy, and the bathroom very modern - in fact, the whole pub looked recently rennovated ans as neat as a pin. We dined that night and had the cooked breakfast before riding on and thoroughly enjoyed both. We will be back!!

You come to Appleby either because you rocked up on the Settle-Carlisle line, or because you did one of the excellent local hikes: High Cup Nick, being the one with The Best View in England. Or because you have a thing for the annual horse fair. We were there for High Cup Nick.

We have been visiting Appleby for 5 years to meet up for the wkend with approx., 12 friends from College from 50 years ago when we had a field centre in Murton. We travel from near and far to meet at the Tufton Hotel for evening meals. Some stay at the Tufton, rent a cottage or camp. On Saturday most climb to top of Murton Pike and back our oldest ex student being 81 years old. There is plenty for us to see and do while we have a catch up. Mostly the ladies, enjoy the clothes, gift and charity shops and plants on sale from grocery and plant stall on Saturday. While the men enjoy the wine tasting at the Tufton, beer, fishing and Pickneys Emporium. We also discovered and had a very fascinating and informative discussion on a visit to the Art Shop with the owner in the Alchemy workshop.

We stayed in Appleby because it was close to the venue of a wedding we were attending. The town is pleasant enough but you couldn’t spend a long time there. It lacks a choice decent eating places and nice coffee shops in our opinion. We did have a lovely meal in The Royal Oak pub though. The local people are friendly and helpful.

If you like a more sedate place to visit Appleby is recommended. Very picturesque high street (Boroughgate) and a Norman Castle at the summit which is well worth a visit (pre-book online). Ascend the fully intact keep to get some great views of the surrounding area and the castle courtyard.

Explore the whole village, as it is ancient (1079 ad). Castle located at the top of the hill. Lots of quirky, quaint houses. Picturesque old train station (steam train). Free overnight parking at the leisure centre - Need a parking disc (buy at CO-OP or Spar shop) to park for 2 hour free in the village or you "WILL" get a parking ticket. Local pubs & shops were all pet friendly.

Lovely cosy, quirky house. Had everything we needed. Kitchen, really well equipped, the heating was really efficient. The bed was super comfy. Eden House is in a lovely setting overlooking a park area and the path to the river walk and the neighbourhood was really quiet, even on New Year's Eve. It's also just around the corner from Appleby's main square so really handy. We returned home really chilled after our relaxing break at Eden House.
