FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Goes without saying Bath is a lovely setting and the Xmas markets make that even more special. Roof top Spa 9/10 The ivy Bath 8/10 OPA RESTAURANT 0/10 Spent a few hundred on food and drink and was kicking us out off the table when still eating at 1h40min and said we could finish it at the bar after we paid, did that and they told us to move again after 5 mins, moved us again after 3 mins and told us to move to hall by the toilets to finish the bottle of wine that we was still drinking. Doorman/waiter behaved like a gangster. Local taxi/uber 8/10 Some was like local tour guides The boater pub 9/10 Fran o Brian's pub 8/10 The Guinness is 10/10 in there, the toilets 2/10 MAGARI Bath restaurant(Italian) 10/10 one of there two restaurants simple menu with fresh pasta, amazing three courses and lovely location too (Prices very good too) The boating station 10/10 Lovely quiet place in the winter to wait a few nights in. 20 min walk to town, 5 min car/taxi about £9 one way in to centre EV charging of cars is shockingly bad and there car parking options for them too. We drove a long distance and was there for a few nights and needed to charge for the return journey. No road side options, 4 hour max parking in close car park, only one charger option working and taken in second larger car park. Park and ride car park near boathouse was a good option so got up early and crossed town to park there at 8am so we could get a space, to find that they don't have a bus till 9:30am on the Sunday!!! So had to walk a mile to a bus stop and wait 30 minutes there!!! Came for a chilled weekend but was spent mostly looking for ev charging. Bath council need to pull there finger out on this one and clearly more help needed for the homeless locals( talked to one person there some sadly seem beyond the stage hope)

Bath is a lovely town with lots to see.

Bath is a lovely town with lots to see. The best thing we did was to take the free walking tour of Bath which are conducted by The Mayor of Bath’s Honorary Guides. Our tour lasted nearly three hours and no booking is required. They start near the entrance to the Roman Baths. Sunday to Friday – 10.30am and 2.00pm Saturday – 10.30am only

Very nice and everything you’d expect from Bath, but some of the buildings sadly need a good clean and tidy-up - they’re looking neglected and the stone is showing its age, looking very drab compared to a few years ago when I was last there. It’s also every bit as overpriced as you’d expect. Some of the independent shops are catastrophically overpriced for what they are selling, especially the glassware. Parking is quite a problem - not enough of it, and it was nearly 40 quid to park for 26 hrs in the Southgate carpark - which was the recommended one by our hotel as the best! Apparently they recently hiked their prices up. Overall, a good stay but they sure do financially abuse visitors, which has put me off returning any time in the near future. For this reason I’m giving it a mid-rating.

Bath is the most beautiful city especially.

Bath is the most beautiful city especially. In the run up to Christmas when the Bath Christmas Market is on. Full of interest and beautiful buildings. The local council provides excellent support, emptying bins, providing security for the market, cleaning the streets. It feels safe and well cared for with a beautiful tree and decorations. The shopper carol services in the Abbey on Saturdays are a delight.

This is one of the best boutique hotels I have stayed at so far. It is in an old 18th century building but was recently renovated. The decour, the choice of colours (loved the royal blue with white), the finishing, the attention to detail - everything was superb. Our room faced the inner garden that added to the beauty of the place. The bed was super comfortable, there was also slippers and robes for the guests. The staff was very nice, helpful and responsive. When I am in Bath again, I will definitelystay in Kennard again!
