We just returned from a wonderful stay at the holiday house and everything was absolutely superb. The beds were incredibly comfortable, which made our nights restful and refreshing. The hosts were exceptionally friendly and attentive, always ready to help with any questions or suggestions. The location is perfect—close to attractions, restaurants, and scenic spots, yet still peaceful and private. Overall, we had a fantastic time and can’t recommend this place highly enough.

We went to the English Heritage 1066 re enactment weekend and also visited Hastings where we had lived in the past. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs, some small independent retailers, and antiques. in Battle. The Abbey and museum are also worth a visit. . There is easy parking even on a busy weekend. It has easy access from the A21 linking up to M25.

Battle is a pretty little town and very compact.

Battle is a pretty little town and very compact. The Abbey and battle ground is good to see as it is a major part of this country's history. However, if you opt to walk around the battlefield make sure you make use of the free audio guide as this brings the history to life as opposed to just looking at a field. The Abbey/battlefield and town can be done in a day, but it is a good idea to have an overnight stay so that you can pace yourself and fully enjoy the place.

Battle was fine for a couple of hours.

Battle was fine for a couple of hours. We went in on a Saturday when there was a folk festival which was OK. People were very friendly at the town museum and we met a great artist, working with oil paints and coffee on steel. But the highlight of our trip was not Battle but going to Farley's Farm, the former home of Lee Miller and Roland Penrose. Also a great walk along the cliffs from Fairlight to Hastings.

Battle is a cute little town with a medieval village vibe.

Battle is a cute little town with a medieval village vibe. Lots of history surrounded by lush countryside with a short drive to the beach. Lots of quaint and quirky shops with a huge choice of tearooms and eateries. It is well worth a stroll around with a visit to the Abbey to add some culture.

The people in battle are so friendly.

The people in battle are so friendly. We sat and watched the men’s tennis final and the England woman’s football. We visited all of the bars and pubs in the village. It’s a shame about the noisy motorbikes whizzing through other than that it’s very oldy worldly for shops. I would have loved to of stayed longer and do the historical walks they signposted. Am definitely popping back. Sarah’s cellar is a must such a lovely lady

I received a phone call from the hotel early evening to ask when I would be checking in as I was going to be late arriving. The welcome from the owner was lovely, the room was fine, the bed very comfortable and the ensuite small but perfectly formed. The breakfast was very good - bacon egg and tomatoes were beautifully cooked. If I need to stay in Battle again I will book the Abbey Hotel again.

The only thing that gives this hotel any sort of kudos is the location - right on the High St in Battle. Otherwise, steer well clear. I don't think it should be listed as a viable hotel, judging by the standard of our room and the general decor/state of the hotel. I will be asking Booking.com for a refund.
