FAQs about hotels in Birmingham

First-class Shopping, Culture and Sports

The UK's 2nd largest city, Birmingham is one of its top cultural centers. Well-known for its M6 Spaghetti Junction interchange, it's also a surprisingly green city with lots of open spaces.

Most city center hotels in Birmingham are near New Street Station. To the east is the futuristic architecture of the new Bull Ring shopping center, and behind that is Digbeth Bus Station. To the west is Victoria Square, home of the town hall and a German Christmas Market.

The Mailbox is one of the newest additions to the Birmingham shopping scene, and behind it is one of the canals converging on the Gas Street Basin. By one canal are the ICC (International Convention Center) and the NIA (National Indoor Arena), both venues that host major events.

Just across the street is Brindleyplace, a canal-front complex of restaurants, bars and hotels near Broad Street – the main nightlife area. It is popular with students at nearby Birmingham University, whose clock tower is modeled on the one in Siena. Just south in Bournville is Cadbury World, and there are several hotels on Hagley Road to the north, which are available on Booking.com.

The city is also known for sports – Aston Villa and Birmingham City are the top soccer clubs, while Edgbaston Cricket Ground hosts international matches. Other Birmingham attractions include Hockley’s Jewellery Quarter and the NEC arena by Birmingham International Airport.

It was very busy on Saturday afternoon, there was a gig at the arena, I suggest booking for food or go early. Some parts of Brindley place seemed very low lit, outside Picolino for example. We ate at the Cosy Club, the food and staff was good, drank at Botanist, bar staff were good, nice cocktails, but it was fully booked for food and drinks.

The house was ok but it has room for improvements.

The house was ok but it has room for improvements. The improvements could be very simple ones. For example cleaning the backyard, installing more lights in the house, providing few more big size pots for cooking, improving the quality of the furniture. The dining table and the coffee table were of a very poor quality. Mattresses were not comfortable to sleep on. I would suggest to the owner to this property that he should invest little bit of more money and then he could make a lot more money. I tried to clean the backyard and the front yard as much as I could with barehand. Please note it was fall/autumn season so leaves were everywhere and it rains a lot in Birmingham so weeds were also everywhere. I uploaded few photo of the backyard and the front yard. Both of the yards were full of trash/rubbish. I cleaned the trash but didn't clean the leaves.

Birmingham is an industrial city.

Birmingham is an industrial city. The Museum & Art Gallery and Botanical Gardens are two highlights. Other than that, not that much on museums and that sort of stuff (that I know of). The city centre is buzzing and exciting. The Bull Ring is an incredibly large shopping centre, so if you love to shop, Birmingham is for you. We loved the O2 Academy venue for attending a concert. Recommended stay: 2-3 days.

Located in a side street off the main Hagley Road into Birmingham City Centre. So while not central, was within easy reach, and the price was very good. The area is a little run down, but the hotel (while small) is modern, clean and comfortable, and the staff friendly and helpful. They don't provide breakfasts, but the Edgbaston Café a 100 yards or so from the hotel does an excellent full english!

The staff were very friendly, breakfast was beautiful and the location suited our needs being perfectly situated near a major trainline for Birmingham city centre and NEC/Airport. Plenty of local free parking available without evening looking into how the hotel, pub carpark worked and priced to suit the accomodation.
