I did go out for a walk once or twice a day and do get a chance to drive around the town. Great historical town, friendly people, nice walks due to the inclining and declining clean streets. I had the choice between Hilton by Hampton and this property. I’ve stayed at Hilton by Hampton before, and while those are your typical franchise hotels, this place offers more of a “home-like” feeling. That said, there are some drawbacks: • The rooms don’t have air conditioning, a fridge, or bottled water. • My sink was blocked on arrival, though maintenance came to fix it. • There’s no electric car charging on-site, even though the car park is large. • The building layout is confusing, and the signs directing to the rooms could be much clearer. Paint was peeling and crumbling of the windows and doors due to lack of attention and up keeping. On the positive side, I really liked the bed and duvet, and I actually got a very good night’s sleep—better than I usually get in other hotels. We stayed in a family room.Price was good. The room was clean with a decent sized, nice double bed but single beds were not comfortable, view from room was nice. Great service ,nice staff at check-in-desk, very good car parking facility, A/C was not working All night, next day we checked out before 11am also there are NO phones available to call room service. The hotel was very convenient, being at the foot of the slip road from the motorway and adjacent to a number of food and amenity shops in the service area. Good size, easy to enter and like that you don’t need a physical key. Bathroom very clean also and has the basics which is nice. Only issue i had was trying to check out, no staff at reception when i was leaving so had to message via booking.com to ask if we could just leave. The £50 deposit not being advertised is a bit annoying! but it got refunded. Location is good, cheap ish compared to the other hotels in the area but still quite expensive for what it is.
