We stayed at the Black horse following a day at Beamish museum. The Black horse was easy to find , in a beautiful location. Our room was perfect with a lovely big bath. We had an evening meal of which we both enjoyed and a brilliant breakfast in the morning.

Location ideal for me. Easy access to motorways when driving and bus stop right outside. Very clean. staff very pleasant nothing was too much trouble. I always have to ask for a hairdryer but it is there within minutes. I always ask for a room that has not had a pet in it so I nearly always get Room 2. I have stayed here several times and will do in the future. The breakfast is delicious. You can help yourself to Continental, make your own toast and get your own coffee. if you prefer tea you can have several teapots if you wish. The full English is delicious and freshly cooked to order. I would highly recommend this hotel as it is a hidden gem.

My partner and I were over from Australia and staying at the Crowne when we were visiting Northern England. The rooms were very clean, and the facilities were great. The buffet breakfast was really good, and also convenient. When we checked in the girl on the front desk (Jamilla I believe?) was incredibly friendly and helpful, and just displayed all round great customer service. We would definitely recommend staying here to anyone that’s looking.

The local co-op was well stocked and not far away for snacks and pop, and a I took the opportunity to seek guidance from a fellow shopper who steered us to the Pack Horse pub, https://www.greeneking-pubs.co.uk/pubs/tyne-and-wear/pack-horse/ which gave us a good dinner. We didn't have time to visit Gibside on this trip, but I have been before, the chapel and gardens are well worth as visit. John tells me there is an active live music scene with open mic nights, and directed us to a car boot sale at Blaydon RFC on Sunday morning Crow Trees Ground, Hexham Rd, Swalwell, Newcastle upon Tyne NE16 3BN
