Went to watch a show at the Opera House which is a magnificent old building had a meal beforehand then stayed overnight at a local B and B. Town itself has lots of diverse eating and drinking establishments along with a nice park in its centre. Fair few artisan shops as well. Would recommend it for an overnight stay or as a base to explore other areas within the Peak District

Lovely town with historic buildings and scenery.

Lovely town with historic buildings and scenery. We arrived by train, walked around the town a lot but it wasn't easy to visit places outside of the town. We've had a hire care. We'll visit there again but by our own car.

Buxton is a beautiful town with an interesting history and elegant architecture, with good restaurants, set within glorious countryside. Haddon Hall and Chatsworth are both an easy drive away. Well worth a visit. We are regular visitors.

Buxton has beautiful buildings and lovely atmosphere.

Buxton has beautiful buildings and lovely atmosphere. Only complaint is one of the places on the internet to see list was The Dome. Having climbed up the hill to visit we found it was closed during term time. Not happy with that.

Lots to do - food good at Chakra Lounge and Simply Thai. Lovely buildings to visit - the Park, Theatre and Opera House brilliant. Close to Manchester with short train journey which we used to visit was an added bonus. Great for families and couples alike.

This historic hotel is centrally located with easy access to the Pavilion Gardens, the central shopping area and the many and varied bars and restaurants. The hotel provides parking permits (2.50 per 24 hours) for convenient parking spaces. Reputedly, this is the oldest hotel in England and so we found our room was splendidly furnished with inlaid antique furniture. We will book again. We visited during the Buxton International Festival, the hotel being an excellent base.

The hotel is in a very central location in Buxton and it is easy to travel to destinations around peak district. The hotel reception looks grand. Food was surprisingly tasty and good value and enjoyed how friendly one of the head chef was communicating with guests during evening service. A and e waiting time are much better than south East England I was in and out within 1 hour, however due to a small area a and e closes by early evening.

We always try and stay at the Westminster Hotel when we are in Buxton. It is in a beatiful location overlooking the Pavilion Gardens and within close walking distance to Buxton Opera House and all the other amenities Buxton has to offer. It provides an excellent choice of breakfast served directly to your table. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and we always enjoy a very relaxed stay here. There is also parking on site.

A lovely place to stay in the centre of Buxton. The room was beautifully decorated with everything you could need. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the tearooms downstairs were great. The hotel is directly opposite the park and the opera house.
