Fabulous place a little off the beaten track but still very accessible. Very quiet but right on the north eastern tip of the loch. Handy amenities on the doorstep too. Shops, bar and restaurant less than 3 minutes away on foot.

Lodge was fantastic.

Lodge was fantastic. Staff were very welcoming and nothing was an issue. It was nice and peaceful. I'd have stayed a lot longer if I could. Everything you need is literally on the doorstep. Staff at the village shop were lovely and even took our photo as we just got married the day we arrived. Chris was very welcoming anytime we needed anything from the wee shop.

From the minute we arrived the level of service was shocking...

From the minute we arrived the level of service was shocking, admittedly we arrived 2 hrs early but after a 6 hr drive, I thought it would be worth asking if room was ready, nobody on reception, just a mobile number to call & phone was answered with a “Yeah “ check in is 3pm and if you want to check in now it’s £25 per hr. I thought this was steep after paying £900 for 3 nights. The lodge was ok but worth nowhere near that amount. We went and sat in the pub over the road and waited until 3pm, on check in they asked me to pay £200 security which is for the hot tub. On the 1st night, my 8 yr old daughter was sick and we had to remove her bed sheets, I went to reception the following day a couple of times to report this but there was nobody there, I called the mobile number but no answer & my daughter had to spend 2 x nights without sheets . After we checked out, just a key drop as again there was nobody on reception, I took a call a few hrs later telling me that as I had failed to inform them about my daughter being sick on the sheets, I wouldn’t get my £200 deposit back, I sent a screen shot of times I tried to call & explained that I visited reception to report. I even offered to meet them in the middle but the woman was aggressive & just kept blaming her boss, she wouldn’t send me her bosses details and has kept the money. Absolutely shocking service & I doubt the boss had anything to do with it. I have never, ever left a review as I think everyone deserves an off day every now and then, but due to such poor service & poor attitude I need to warn others. Money not so much an issue, just the manner in which it was taken.

Balmaha is a spectacular location on the banks of Loch Lomond. Beautiful walks along the shoreline or up through the woodlands and climbing Conic hill. Visitor centre is an interesting visit. Demonstrates the history, geology and wildlife of the area. Staff are always helpful and welcoming. Coffee shop, village shop and restaurant have great selection on offer. Again staff are always helpful and welcoming.

The Oak Tree Inn had everything you would need for a base...

The Oak Tree Inn had everything you would need for a base for exploring. There was no where near by, within walking distance to eat or drink. The Oak Tree has everything you would need, coffee shop with home roasted coffee, great selection of snacks and cakes with plenty of vegan options. They have a shop with gifts, drinks, sandwiches, snacks and walking equipment. The pub itself it very quaint with open fire, a well stocked bar and good pub food. The pricing of the food was around £15 for a meal however, the deserts were expensive at £8.95. There is great walks around and you can climb Conig Hill which is directly opposite the accommodation. The water taxis weren’t running due to the weather so we drove around to Luss which was beautiful. It’s a great place to stay altogether.

Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 23 reviews
The simple rustic but very smart decor with mix of stonework, brick and solid wood created a wonderfully natural homely atmosphere. We loved the woodburning stove with ready supply of logs, the private peaceful setting and beautiful garden reaching down to the loch. Lovely under cover outside area to enjoy the fresh air and garden in all weathers. Near to lots of walks and the wonderful Oak Tree Inn at Balmaha.

Everything was exceptional, but particularly the staff. In every part of the hotel, the, mainly young, staff were so welcoming, polite and helpful. The food, both in the evening, and at breakfast, was second to none, and there was plenty of it!

Nice place. Extraordinary interior. Like camping furnitures made of wood. A room, not like typical boring hotel rooms
