FAQs about hotels in Cardiff

The Pride of Wales

Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.

Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.

From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Center, shopping in Cardiff is fantastic. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants for a short rest or meal. Those by Cardiff Bay have particularly pleasant views.

Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Center. Another year 2,000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and soccer matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.

Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city center.

What Guests Said About Cardiff:

Cardiff is an interesting city that has much to offer.

Cardiff is an interesting city that has much to offer. The Bay Area is good for walks and entertainment with a superb concert hall and historic buildings including the Victorian Gothic terracotta Pierhead Building and wooden Norwegian church. The city centre is a busy shopping centre with some quirky old arcades, worth a browse, including Spillers, the oldest record shop in the world. The castle is not just a ruin but has sumptuous and ornate interiors by Victorian architect William Burges. To the North of the centre you will find the city Museum and Art Gallery which has an impressive collection of French Impressionist paintings. Cardiff University is also nearby, rising from the formal gardens of Cathays Park which look particularly beautiful when the Spring blossoms are out.

Being from northern Australia, the weather was a bit hard to handle BUT, that was our choice. Plenty to see in Cardiff. The city centre was relatively easy to navigate. We achieved what we wanted to do and see.

As a regular visitor to our capital city Cardiff has so much to offer. Great bars restaurants, hotels to suit all pockets and so much to do in a very walkable distance. If history is your bag then you wont be disappointed. There's so much to see and do.

Wasn’t our first time in Cardiff so only there 1 night.

Wasn’t our first time in Cardiff so only there 1 night. But boy, did it feel like a full-blown holiday, with a castle, lovely walking streets, much better restaurants than I expected, cool museums, friendly locals. World’s first arcades. And loads of old buildings. Oh, also waterfront, rugby stadium and Dr Who spots all around … great family trip or for romantic couples. Try Pasture restaurant for dinner, and Corner Coffee for breakfast

The location was excellent– while a bit of a walk from the bay, it’s an easy walk to the city centre and Cardiff Central station. Being right next to Cardiff University, the area can be a little lively at times, especially on the weekend, with the windows open, but it didn’t negatively impact the stay. The host was fantastic, very responsive via phone and email, and their local recommendations were incredibly helpful.

Location was excellent, right in the city of Cardiff. We were attending a wedding in the city and asked for early check in, if possible to allow us to get ready. They were able to honour it with no problems at all. Very much appreciated. Parking facilities were good as most city centres don’t have on site parking, this one does and is cheaper than other hotels.

The apartment is perfectly located in Cardiff Bay, with the restaurants and bars of Mermaid Quay a stone's throw away, and supermarkets, parking and bus routes to the city centre all nearby. The apartment is spacious and equipped with everything you would need for a short or long stay. Communication was excellent and access was simple.
