I knew nothing of Carlisle prior to my visit and we didn't have long to look round but my main feeling was to wonder why nobody's mentioned how lovely it is. It has some stunning historical buildings to see and the city had a nice vibe. It's also really conveniently located for the Lake District and has rail links directly to it. Clean, great value, decent facilities, great breakfasts! Room layout the same as all other Ibis hotels I've stayed in. Staff really helpful and friendly and the hotel is in a fantastic location. Carlisle is a really nice quaint town with lots of nice restaurants.
