The breakfast was good but a little high priced. The staff was superior. A special recognition to Haley, Mel, Karen and Eleanor. When my husband and I came to the lobby in the morning and/or the evening we were greeted and asked about our day's excursion. It truly felt like home away from home.

Bike friendly! We were able to secure our bikes in the rear beer garden undercover. Excellent room and really nice meal downstairs in the pub.

My partner and I recently stayed at Lairds house for his birthday, and we can’t recommend it enough! The stay was absolutely amazing, and to say they are dog-friendly would be an understatement. From the moment we arrived, everyone was incredibly kind to us and our pooches, making us feel truly welcome. Our room was lovely, and the freestanding bath was a fab addition that added a touch of luxury to our stay. The bar had a great atmosphere and both dinner and breakfast were fantastic, including vegan options for me. Our dogs were spoiled with treats from both the staff and friendly locals—much to their delight! A large free car park was also bonus. If you're looking for a warm, welcoming place to stay where your four-legged friends are just as valued as you are, Lairds House is the perfect choice. We’ll definitely be back!

I cannot recommend The Portland enough. The staff were very friendly & quick to meet anything asked of them. The room was stunning & facilities were so good. The food was delicious with a menu that would suit a varied guest list. It is a very short distance to shops, restaurants & cafes. Really enjoyed the beer garden & playing darts in a relaxed atmosphere. It was great value for money. Will definitely stay there again when visiting Ashington.

This place is a little gem, more boutique hotel experience than B&B. The quality of the rooms, beds, linen, food and decor is incredible. Located 2 minutes from the heart of town, but so very quiet at night, we had the best sleep in the comfortable beds. Free parking over the road, on a safe side street. Carmen, the owner greeted us, and made a delicious cooked to order breakfast, also offered a lovely breakfast continental buffet. The fridge in the room also had fresh milk and a proper tea/coffee set up. A gorgeous, Edwardian, terraced house. stunning entrance and lovingly restored by Carmen and her husband. You could not find better accommodation in the region. We were totally shocked at the quality here.

Choppington appeared to be a typical northern village which probably was industrial in bygone years. It's close to Morpeth without having to pay Morpeth prices and that was my reason for staying there.

We didn't really explore much of Choppington and we ate at the Anglers Arms each night. We did one walk by the river but it involved some steep steps so wouldn't do that again. We could see a pleasant park from our bedroom window but didn't go there. Our time was mostly spent visiting English Heritage and National Trust properties. We did, however, get lost coming back to the pub as it was actually in Sheepwash rather than where Choppington is marked on the map.

Anglers arms was a joke of a hotel wouldn't advise anyone else to book, ended up driving home 11.30 at night. There was no hot water in the sink tap, booked a double got 3 singles, the music was that loud the floor was vibrating, absolutely disgrace of a hotel

The room was excellently presentable, clean and spacious.

The room was excellently presentable, clean and spacious. Although the bed was a little on the small size ( for us, being of the larger proportion adults). The room would easily accept a king size bed. All the accomodation was on the ground floor but unfortunately access for people with wheal chairs or walking difficulties would find one of the small staircases converted to a ramp very acceptable. It was wonderful and relaxing.Easally placed as a base for outings to the whole of Northumberlands splendid attractions.

We just travelled from the studios to my daughters a couple of miles away. But Choppington does look lovely. We did go to a supermarket there which is not to far away. Other than that we spent our time out in the sunshine travelling locally. Lovely place.

All we needed was to book a clean double room in a hurry for a family emergency. What we got was more than perfect. Spacious, spotless, airy, relaxing, comfortable room with more extras than a high class hotel would offer. With family in the area we will definitely be back. Position great as even without a car there is a bus stop outside and it is an easy walk into Bedlington.
