The property was like new. We stayed in the Waiting Room, a self contained suite. Bright, clean and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Daryl, the host, lives on the property and is very responsive and friendly. The location is excellent. It’s right in the village of Lanchester, yet in a very quiet location.

olde world charm mixed with modern facilities but it was the people, both staff and customers, that made our stay memorable. Host Kerry demonstrated that nothing was too much trouble. Customers Joe, Davy and Graham provided interesting, and often hilarious, craic. A great range of beers in the bar and a sumptuous breakfast rounded off a great stay.

The Old Post Office is in a great location in Lanchester with various places to eat close by. The facilities are excellent with great attention to detail including bathrobes, fresh milk and homemade biscuits. The room was spotlessly clean and Keith a very welcoming host. Breakfast was ordered the night before at a time of our choice which meant everything was freshly cooked. Great local ingredients and the most delicious bacon!

The room was very clean and comfy. Only problem was we couldn't open the window! Beds were superb. Doggies were well received - there's even a dog menu at the restaurant (not sure what it includes as our dogs had their own food). We ate at the restaurant, pub food, all very good. Wifi was good and much needed as we were reluctant to use the post-Brexit roaming (expensive!). No noise at all through the night. We had breakfast the next morning, which was great even if we didn't take the cooked British breakfast option. There is a lovely park and forest across the road, perfect to walk dogs before and after dinner, and also before getting on the road again.

The apartment was immaculate and we couldn’t fault a thing; very well maintained with everything you need for a quality stay and brand new. Rachel our host couldn’t have been more helpful, what a lovely lady who went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. The bakery has delicious food and beverages and is an added bonus to the stay. Visiting family town center is a bit rundown but where isn’t now days? Lots of big shops local restaurants pubs to explore found it a good place to center yourself for trips to Hadrians wall Newcastle Sunderland all short drives.

The heating was not working at all thought out my stay no...

The heating was not working at all thought out my stay no hot water to bath or shower and no central heating. Fill in form complaints from the hosts but never had no reply ???? needs to be one of the most important things of the stay had to go out to keep warm as the weekend I stayed there was freezing then had to go to bed to keep warm in the house but nobody has contacted me about the matter

It is in a pretty part of the world.

It is in a pretty part of the world. About a five minute walk for the house in Shotley Bridge is a Restaurant "Sale &Pepe" basically Italian but with other cuisine as well. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much we went two days in a row.

The room was ok but it had a few things that didn't work the way they should have. Dinner and breakfast needed more staff. This could have been to Covid issue but one or two more staff would have been helpful to all.

It's a very high end quality decorated house which instantly makes you feel you are in some 5 star hotel. Look, I could go on all day about how great it is.... I used to live in consett so front street is an ideal position..for all amenities in consett..flat was very cozy,very clean throughout..has everything you need for a few days break..highly recommend it to anyone looking for a central location 10/10
