FAQs about hotels in Coventry

The Legacy of Legends

Southeast of Birmingham, Coventry is best known for the shell of its old cathedral, a poignant reminder of the damage sustained during World War II. Part of its northern wall joins the new Modernist cathedral, designed by Sir Basil Spence.

In the neighboring gardens, there are remains of an 11th-century Benedictine monastery set up by Lord Leofric. His wife, Lady Godiva, became Coventry’s greatest legend by riding naked on horseback in protest of her husband’s high taxes.

St. Mary’s Guildhall is built on part of the old castle, and Baginton on the city’s outskirts houses the reconstructed Roman Lunt Fort. Coventry Airport is also here, by the Midland Air Museum, where the exhibits include a Vulcan.

The Coventry Transport Museum has great examples of vehicles manufactured in the city over the years. Another point of interest are the canals north of the city's center, lined by historic buildings. Other attractions include the Warwick Arts Centre – the UK’s 2nd largest – and the Ricoh Arena, home of Coventry City FC. The Sky Dome Arena is an ice hockey and music venue, while the best shopping is found in Arena Park Center.

The city has 2 universities and tons of bars and restaurants. There are also several Coventry hotels, guesthouses and country houses on Booking.com, most with parking and some with pools.

Coventry has a pleasant shopping area, and the multi-storey car park was easy to access and navigate, with reasonable prices. There were several well-known food options, and we chose the Slug and Lettuce because it offered the best vegan and vegetarian choices for the group. I also enjoyed a very good coffee from an independent café.

On arrival been greeted by two lovely ladies at the desk. They were very polite and supper helpful. When i entered the room i been in shock ( in a very positive way). Room been very cosy and welcoming. Little fridge in a room to keep your drinks and snacks cold. Bed absolutely amazing and very comfortable. Room very clean. I had an option with a breakfast, and I must say was amazing. Vey good choice of food. Only thing I would change, is from what time the breakfast is served. 07:30. Is a bit late if someone is on very short visit.

It is a small town with some great attractions. There is a fabulous cathedral in its three phases - ancient, medieval and recent. The area around the cathedral is excellent for walking around and enjoy good food. For car enthusiasts, there is an excellent Transportation Museum. The Warwick Castle, Shakespeare's hometown and Birmingham are nearby

Went to meet friend's son and wife for a birthday treat. Apart from the birthday treat at Mana Spa (which was worth every penny) and enjoyed by all, spend rest of time on country walks which were refreshing and very interesting

The city centre was quite clean and modern - loved the various different water fountains and the way they lit up at night. Lots of great shops and places to eat. The city centre felt safe even at night and there were plenty of places to park. There was more we could have done here so we intend to come back!

Coventry is a medieval city.

Coventry is a medieval city. There is lots to see - the 2 cathedrals, the Guild Hall and the memorials to Lady Godiva. Parking can be a problem but I'd recommend Orchard Carpark or the Belgrade carpark. We had lunch at the Slug and Lettuce near the Cathedral. Coventry City Centre is very walkable.

We stayed here for one night. The location was perfect. We stayed here due to a family occasion in Coventry. The whole hotel was lovely. So unique. Myself and my partner stayed in the Park Priory, the rest of the family stayed in the Abbey. All rooms were beautiful. The gardens were beautiful, such a nice walk. And the weather was perfect as well that day. Definitely would stay here again in the future.

Staff were friendly, and helpful. The location was good too. Easy to get into town (by car) and loved that the bar was open til late. Bed was comfy and the room was clean and tidy. Only had breakfast once, and it was okay. Price is now £13.95 though. This hotel works for both business and leisure, for a short, no fuss stay. Thank you to all at Novotel Coventry. Be back soon! x

Absolutely spotless rooms with very modern facilities. Bathroom had nice full bottles of shampoo/shower gel and extra toilet paper. Kitchen had plenty cutlery/utensils/cleaning supplies. Cheaper than other hotels and in a great location close to the city centre Accommodating hosts for late check in at no extra charge, friendly and straight forward
