We just loved staying at The Crown Hotel in Downham Market! Everything about the hotel was exceptional, from the delicious full English breakfasts, clean rooms with fresh linen, character of the hotel and it's history and it's interesting décor, to the quant hotel bar (which was always busy at night), to the very friendly and helpful owners and staff, our stay exceeded any expectations we had. This is a true English Hotel with character and we will definitely stay there on our next trip to the UK. The location is prefect walking distance to shops, supermarkets, laundromat and cafes and restaurants. We just loved "Henry"!! Just perfect!! :)

The Chequers is a lovely little place to stay. The bed and sofa bed were really comfortable. We had breakfast at the pub, which was delicious, and Kim was very friendly. We will definitely be staying there again.

Everything! We liked our room being ground floor and being able to park right outside. The room was large and comfortable. Everything was very good quality. Breakfast was excellent. We'll need to find an excuse to come back!

Downham Market has an excellent little local museum called...

Downham Market has an excellent little local museum called the Downham Discovery Centre, based in the old Fire Station. The volunteer staff there were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area and it’s history. This is certainly worth a visit.

A pretty town with some lovely architecture.

A pretty town with some lovely architecture. I took the train into Kings Lynn one day and the journey was only 15 mins. With hindsight I'd stay in Kings Lynn in future and get the train to Downtown Market to visit as I was disappointed with my accommodation there.

A nice market town with excellent facilities.

A nice market town with excellent facilities. We ate at the Titash which was very good, Naxos, twice which was excellent and had fish and chips from Rumbles Fish Bar which was OK. We drank in the Whalebone which is typical Wetherspoons fare as well as the Swan and the Crown Hotel both of which benefitted greatly from friendly staff. I would recommend the Norfolk Cheese Company and Goddards the butcher both of which were top-notch. All of the aforementioned were within a two or three minute walk of our accommodation, the Beehive which I would not recommend.

Market square and good shopping facilities and places to...

Market square and good shopping facilities and places to have a meal - if in Downham, check out The Cave Restaurant, who provided us with a delicious meal - definitely the place to eat, which is really comfy, spacious and nicely decorated, with friendly, courteous staff. Downham could do with a Costa Coffee 😆

Quiet market town and worth a look around.

Quiet market town and worth a look around. Limited selection of restaurants within walking distance 2 supermarkets in the centre, Tesco and Morrisons Leisure Centre 15 minute walk A number of pubs but a couple were not geared up to families in our opinion

Set in a beautiful location with the great river Ouse flowing past the Denver village with many walks and beautiful views. Lodge is beautiful and bonus with the hot tub. The village of Denver is well situated in between historic Ely and on the outskirts of Downham Market. We will definitely be returning here.
