FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

Edinburgh was wonderful for sightseeing.

Edinburgh was wonderful for sightseeing. We spent a full four days here but still didn’t have enough time to see all the must-visit attractions. The public transport system is excellent. We plan to return to explore the city and the Highland area next time. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes because you'll do a lot of walking on hilly roads.

Good place to visit if you love history.

Good place to visit if you love history. Old buildings were preserved and were all so beautiful. Castles are also a plus to visit in Scotland. If you love wool and shortbread cookies, you can find it all in the Edinburgh shops.

One of the most beautiful, scenic cities - on par with Paris for me. The lovely gothic cathedrals and buildings, check out the view from Carlton Hill, visit Clarinda's Tea Room for the best scones you'll ever have, go on a ghost tour, eat fish and chips from a pub - explore the lovely inspiration behind "Diagon Alley" and many other Harry Potter type locations. A fairy town, but in real life.

An incredibly beautiful city with so much character.

An incredibly beautiful city with so much character. I was in town for the rugby, and the atmosphere was electric, the whole city had an amazing buzz. It’s very walkable, and I managed to see a lot on foot. The hike up Arthur’s Seat was a highlight, offering stunning views over the city.

Amazing city to visit.

Amazing city to visit. The people are the friendliest and very helpful. Edinburgh has something for everyone - rich and interesting history, architecture, tours and fun experiences. The Islander experience was amazing. The ladies were helpful and fun. The cost was very reasonable and you get to leave with a fabulous bag. We were lucky to go on a couple of tours - The Edinburgh Castle and Loch Lomond, Kelpies and Stirling Castle. Both were great value for money and the tour guides were absolutely amazing!

I recently stayed at ibis budget Edinburgh Park and was very pleased with the experience. The location is very convenient, especially if you want easy transport links the hotel is just minutes from the airport and close to a tram stop that takes you into Edinburgh’s city centre. The room was clean, modern and comfortable The personal was friendly and very helpful I’d highly recommend ibis budget Edinburgh Park I’d stay there again.

I like this place - the staff are really helpful and it is a comfortable, clean and affordable place to stay near to the city centre where hotel prices soar and you don't get any more for your money. Recommend the hotel for a great stay in Edinburgh, and the parking is handy even if they have put on a price on it more recently, but still affordable.

Great location, about 20 minutes walk into Edinburgh city centre. Shops, cafes and restaurants close by. We took the tram from airport to Haymarket and then 5 minutes walk to hotel. Can join river walk into the centre a few minutes from hotel which was lovely. Lovely, friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Room was great and the bed very comfortable.

Great location for catching the tram/bus to the airport or into Edinburgh city centre. Also easy enough to stroll into the centre and sitesee as you go along. Great choices and variety for breakfast. Staff were really friendly and was no issue storing our bags at the hotel after check-out for collection later.

The Bonham is a beautiful small hotel in the West end of Edinburgh. It’s on a quiet road which is only a few minutes walk from the city centre. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well presented with a homely and comfortable feel. Comfortable bar/lounge/restaurant area and a cosy library. Great food too.
