FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

Our time in Edinburgh was just as memorable as our stay.

Our time in Edinburgh was just as memorable as our stay. The city was full of character, great food, and lively streets, and exploring Edinburgh Castle was a real highlight — the history, views, and atmosphere were incredible. Standing at the top and looking out over the city made the whole visit unforgettable.

Christmas market so atmospheric, but we went first thing as saw it was very busy later on. As it grew darker the city seemed to come alive with as the castle and other buildings were illuminated. We went for high tea at MacIntosh tea room on Princes Street and is to be recommended and very reasonably priced. Can’t wait to go again.

A good choice of places to eat and drink.

A good choice of places to eat and drink. Great food at The Black Grape. Great history and architecture, places of interest. Edinburgh castle well worth a visit. Booked an evening with Edinburgh Gin learning about and making (and drinking!) cocktails - a really fun experience.

The castle is huge with plenty to spark the imagination.

The castle is huge with plenty to spark the imagination. The bars and restaurants are great with plenty to suit all lifestyles and pockets. We ate at the Beehive Inn on Grassmarket where we found the food to be well prepared and presented at a reasonable price. We used the Big Bus tour to get around at first then used Uber to revisit a few loacations.

Edinburgh was wonderful for sightseeing.

Edinburgh was wonderful for sightseeing. We spent a full four days here but still didn’t have enough time to see all the must-visit attractions. The public transport system is excellent. We plan to return to explore the city and the Highland area next time. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes because you'll do a lot of walking on hilly roads.

Good place to visit if you love history.

Good place to visit if you love history. Old buildings were preserved and were all so beautiful. Castles are also a plus to visit in Scotland. If you love wool and shortbread cookies, you can find it all in the Edinburgh shops.

The Hotel is a wonderful resort for relaxing and family gathering. It has an amazing garden which we enjoyed so much. It is not close to City, but we reckoned it's the best place to stay in Edinburgh for holiday. It is only about 30mins drive to city centre. The room is spacious for a family of 4. It serves delicious breakfast till 11am, which allowed sleeping in a bit everyday. Their gym room was well-equipped. And the swimming pool was great. Their dinner was of high standard.

The Glasshouse Hotel provides excellent, high quality, Edinburgh city centre location accommodation. From our arrival until departure we were made very welcome, nothing was too difficult and our every need was accommodated for. Concierge David B and Issac were a font of knowledge and provided valuable insight to inform our short break. Equally, all the receptionist staff throughout our visit.

Although the hotel is located at a distance from Edinburgh city centre, it is well-connected by efficient tram and bus services. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The room was clean, bright, and well-maintained, and the availability of free on-site parking was a significant advantage.

The West End of Edinburgh is a great location for this Hotel. The room was spacious and very comfortable. It is much quieter than many other City Centre Hotels and close to some very nice bars, cafes and restaurants.
