Plenty to see but a visit to the Kelpies is something to see close up, point to notice is the free car park is a fairly long walk and the nearer one is only £3.80 or so all day for a car and is still a little way away but the size of the Kelpies is deceptive and its not till your close the true size is revealed. Falkirk wheel is also worth a visit, we happened to choose a day with poor weather but went on the boat ride on the lift and our friends really enjoyed it. Parking bays (fairly rough) looped into each other up the steep hill with lots of disabled spaces down by the bottom roundabout.

Love Falkirk it's so central to Edinburgh and surrounding areas, always visit my playground growing up, callander park, always walk the kelpies and if time the Falkirk wheel. Just love Falkirk, the lonely broomstick if your a harry potter fan is amazing and the wee witchy shop next to it is absolutely fantastic, loved hobby craft to

We had just walked the 130km Great Glen Way (Fort William to Inverness) and chose Falkirk for a short stop before heading to Edinburgh airport to head home. We walked to the Falkirk Wheel and had an excellent morning and lunch - a very worthwhile walk along the canal tow path and a great attraction. Fueled up, we then walked the tow path all the way to The Kelpies - another excellent attraction, great photos and good facilities. We walked back to the city (20 km for the day) and found a great Italian restaurant, Corvina Cafe for a celebratory prosecco, pizza and glass of red. The old high street is a little run down and there is a very new shopping area over the rail line ... so enjoy both contrasts. The train station was easy to access. It would have been easy to do a day trip into Edinburgh .. but we had been there in 2024.

The Falkirk Wheel is amazing! The engineering is fantastic.

The Falkirk Wheel is amazing! The engineering is fantastic. You can buy a boat trip to experience the process for £17. I didn't go up as I don't like heights, but watching was spectacular. Parking is £4 all day & many people park, experience the wheel then take the bus to the Kelpies (about 4 miles to walk) then bus back to pick up the car.

I am a retired civil engineer, so a visit to the Falkirk Wheel is a must for me - almost a form of pilgrimage to an outstanding creation of ingenuity, imagination, technical skill and inspiration, located at the nexus of the old barge canal waterway system. The Kelpies are the World’s largest horse sculptures: startling, impressionistic creations more than 30 metres high - built astride one of the barge canal locks. I first saw the Wheel and the Kelpies in 2014, when they were both relatively ‘new’ and raw; now, they have settled in nicely to their rightful places on the Scottish stage.

I enjoyed walking around Falkirk and the town centre is doable. Using public transport is advisable to get you to where you want to go but you can also use the canal towpath to get you from the Wheel to the Kelpies (90 mins walking - about four miles). I found the shopping area where they have a big cinema and for those that love shopping. I preferred the town centre with a more intimate feel. More or less in between Glasgow and Edinburgh so can get to both easily as well as all the other hamlets surrounding it due to the good train network. I ate at the restaurant at the Park hotel, second to none - definitely a must do. .

Top of the list is the excellent service provided by Caroline and Joanne. They are a real asset to the hotel and showed a genuine enthusiasm to provide customer satisfaction. Even arranging early access to dining room for breakfast as we had an early morning flight. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We chose it because of the close proximity to the Falkirk Wheel, The Kelpies and the airport. The added bonus was a nice restaurant and bar in the hotel with good reasonably priced food.

Located on the edge of an ndustrial estate this won't be the ideal hotel for everyone although it is only a short walk before you are at the Kelpies and all the lovely walks around them. There aren't really any restaurants within walking distance but the hotel has a kitchen area with a couple of microwaves, plates, cutlery, etc which were ideal for my stay. The room was kept immaculate during my stay and was spacious and well served.

The apartment was well equipped and comfortable for two couples. Falkirk is very convenient for central Scotland and the Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies were outstanding sights. The day trips into Edinburgh a d around Loch Limand were great too. Our Aussie companions (of Scottish decent) were very pleased.

Cheap and cheerful was ok for our 2 night stay. Location was good as near to the town. We had lunch in the hotel and the food was good. Weatherspoons was a short walk away which was handy for breakfast.
