Gravetye Manor is a magical place. The house built in the late 1500’s retains its charm and has all the modern comforts. Breakfast offers many choices of hot and cold foods. You sit by floor to ceiling windows looking out on the spectacular gardens. The bedroom (Pear) was large and had three windows overlooking the gardens. Staff are friendly, kind, competent. Dinner came with 4-5 little extra food treats between courses. A marvellous experience!

The location is optimal for an overnight rest before an early flight. Having a restaurant on site with good operating hours was key to our level of comfort. The staff were all friendly and professional. Especially, Nicky at reception - she went above and beyond in gaining wheelchair assistance from the Gatwick airport to get is through initial phases of checking in the morning we departed. The narrow lane access was full of deep potholes.

The narrow lane access was full of deep potholes. There were no signs stating that there was convenient access to rooms from the car park level with suggestions possibly to register first up the flight of stairs (internally there are three flights of steep stairs down to the rooms. Signage would have been helpful). There is nothing near the hotel but water and woods so a car trip down the narrow lane is necessary even for a newspaper. The boutique hotel room was modern and clean with a comfortable bed. Unfortunately there were essential items missing, such as no waste bin in the bedroom, no shelf for toiletries/toothbrush in the bathroom and no grab rail for elderly occupants; in fact the situation was not good for anyone with vertigo or mobility issues. We received family guests for dinner, one meal was unfortunately overcooked so much so that the basic fish and chips meal was refunded. This reflected badly on us as hosts and will not recommend it to others for such a visit.

It was a bonus to realise there was a beautiful indian/ nepalese restaurant with the hotel. The food was amazing and we got a table booked as soon as we arrived. It was lucky as it was very busy and not suprising as the food was so good. The price for the meal was very good and they have some good wines. I had a glass or two of New Zealand Sauvingon blanc and my husband a kingfisher beer. The room was clean and bed comfortable even though it was a hot evening. There was a fan but no air conditioning. The staff were very welcoming.

The Woodcock Inn is conveniently located on the A 22 road just outside East Grinstead. The entrance is located at the back of the building which took a little effort to find but the friendliness of the family who manage the hotel was very pleasing. The breakfast was cooked to order with a choice of hot food although no cereals were served. The lunch time dish of Nepalese food was of a high quality. The bedroom was very comfortable.

We had our evening meal in the restaurant (The Gurkha), which was delicious and good value for money. The room was comfortably warm and the bed was very comfortable. We had a very good night's sleep, even though we were on the front of the hotel. We noticed planes going overhead when we left the next day, but we had not been aware of them while we were in the hotel. Parking was easy and convenient.
