Fochabers is a quaint, lovely small town dating from the 18th century. Easy to drive in and find parking. It’s a convenient location to use as a base to visit surrounding historical sites, look for local shops for made in Scotland goods, go to some distilleries or drive to the coast. Beautiful Castle Gordon next to the town, offer tours. First Highland Games of the Season are held on the Castle grounds in May. There are at least four places to stay, Gordon Castle being one. Delightfully diverse dining options; most are an easy walk. Depending on where you stay, dining is also available on site. We stayed at the Red Lion Tavern that offers a fabulous breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Fochabers. Please consider this lovely village as part of your itinerary.

The walled garden was OK but not worth a 10 GBP entry fee.

The walled garden was OK but not worth a 10 GBP entry fee. Nice walk around the walled garden, but nothing special. Nothing else to do in Fochabers. Baxters, which was its main attraction, has closed down!

I stayed there only for one night in order to be close to my visit to Glen Grant distillery and the whisky trail in the area. But the place was lovely and I could spend a couple of days more there, visiting lovely villages, beaches and castles nearby.

Although great view of the ocean you really couldnt access the beach. Not the best due to being a stoney beach no good for children or dogs as you couldn't get down to the waters edge. Far better beach at Lossiemouth and Hopeman

A very good base for exploring Speyside or the coast or going on the Whisky Trail. Interesting selection of small shops - Tourist and quality Scottish souvenirs - Antique shops - Fabric and haberdashery (which is now difficult to find in the city) - Cafe / ice-cream parlour - local history museum - interesting walks.

The accommodation creates a wonderful sense of peacefulness and comfort, whilst providing all the utensils, white-goods, and fittings to ensure complete self-sufficient. The accommodation is set in a beautiful garden, with easy access to local walks (minutes away), and a short stroll into the centre of the small town of Fochabers. The location is also ideal as a base to explore the many fishing towns, distilleries, and Heritage attractions throughout Morayshire.

Our second stay at Orton Estate Fochabers and loved it! Great cottage for a family with teenage kids who are looking for something different other than staying in a family room in a hotel. Clean, comfortable and a beautiful location. We used it as a base for visiting family in Elgin but there’s loads to do in the area. Definitely recommend and would love to come back in the winter time to use the log burner.

This hotel is excellent value for money. The room had everything we needed and the staff were really helpful. It's not the Ritz but for the price we paid we were very happy. Breakfast was lovely too.

Staff were amazing, friendly, welcoming, and hard working. The hotel needs updated in all aspects, I had two squeaky beds that were uncomfortable, I wouldn't stay here again.
