I had a really lovely stay at Magpies. Everyone was so kind and welcoming - I felt really at home. The room was clean, comfortable, and beautiful - with a great bath, much needed after a day’s cycling! I ate in the restaurant - and the food was excellent, really excellent. What a great place, and what lovely people!

Honey bee cottage was bigger than we expected, although knew it was 3 bedrooms, didn't expect the size of it. Stand alone bungalow, plenty of parking if a few cars. Very clean, welcome tea coffee sugar etc. Very quiet, comfy beds

We liked the private garden and it's features and facilities opening onto very close access to the viking way walk and also the very pretty village , shop and public house. We also liked the accomodation which has a good WiFi connection, private parking and decent facilities its very Scandinavian influenced nick knacks and books making for some interesting reading for a change not that we needed them much as we were fortunate with the weather (it was November !) out walking in the surrounding stunning countryside but nice and cosy to come back to. Also the hosts Sue and Karl were friendly, helpful and honest and we were well looked after and made welcome but without intrusion into our privacy. The Black horse public house was only a five minute walk away and was very comfortable with a friendly atmosphere, unfortunately we were too late to eat but we were told by our hosts and some villagers that the food was excellent. I have to mention a lady called Jenny who has been the local shop keeper in Donington for many years a jovial , knowledgeable lady who s book sales proceeds help towards the upkeep of the air ambulance service. Lastly for any hikers and wild life enthusiasts this place is paradise with some stunning walks and abundant wildlife.

Was so impressed with Hangman's Cottage that I felt compelled to write a review. The place has got an endearing contemporary quaint look, was spotless, and smelled brand new; And it was VERY well equipped. I'm not normally one to comment on decor, but the interior was so beautiful that you felt as though you'd stepped into a magazine. Importantly, it was quiet. In the end, the fact that I could not park next to the cottage paled into insignificance. Would highly recommend a stay here and most certainly visit again.

What guests said about Goulsby:

8.0

Goulceby is a pretty small village with just a village pub (...

Goulceby is a pretty small village with just a village pub (and a church I think). Other villages would have been accessible by bike if the weather had been better but as it was cold and wet some of the time we drove more than we usually do on holiday. Horncastle and Louth are both 7-8 miles away and have all services and are attractive little towns. The north sea beaches are 20 or so miles away. The great thing about the location was that we were right in the middle of the Wolds, with quiet and varied walking and cycling routes straight out the front door.
