Hay was one of our favourite places My husband is an avid book reader, collector. In past years he usually found what he would call a little bit of treasure from one of the many bookshops but he was disappointed at how expensive the books were. The town is still delightful and pleasurable to walk around.

As expected there were a great many book shops.

As expected there were a great many book shops. Also some attractive gift type shops and being a Saturday an interesting craft market. Lots of eateries but staying at the Old Black Lion we didn’t need to use them. Very best being a bank holiday weekend

This is a gem of a town even if you don't like books! The countryside is beautiful with lots of places to go for country walks. Great pubs and cafes. Not sure if I would bother with the castle tour.. though glad they bothered to restore it!

It's an eclectic mix of individual and artisan shops, many lovely cafés and pubs all set in the stunning countryside with the beautiful Wye River for lovely walks and connection to nature. A unique relaxing, friendly location steeped in history.

A great property clean and modern, well equipped and great location. Sleeps five. we previously stayed in hay on wye in band b which was very scruffy. This property was 100% better. If you don’t cook there are great cafes a very short walk away. We will recommend this property to friends

Hay is lovely for the second-hand bookshop afficionado and also set in beautiful surroundings with fantastic walks along the river Wye. During the book festival it can be crowded, and difficult to find accommodation. Be warned you need to book well in advance. If camping suits you, Racquety farm is excellent and not too far from town. Some good pubs and restaurants: the three tuns, excellent value for money and the blue boar, more pricey but good garden

A lovely, cozy little shepherd's hut. A safe and enclosed space for the dog to run free, an ultra comfy bed, well equipt kitchenette and efficient shower. Hot water straight away. Fire pit, wood burner/stove and ample wood freely available. Mountain view and only the sound of sheep and nature to distract. Hay on Wye only a stone's throw from Clyro. Karen and Jim are great hosts. The perfect weekend getaway! .

Lovely flat, spacious, and very tastefully decorated.. Excellent kitchen. The apartment was located in the centre of Hay on Wye.We really enjoyed staying there There was a problem with the hot water when we arrived, but this was fixed by Ben the following morning. He was more than helpful. Would highly recommend Rooftops for a stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Smithy - we stayed in the annexe and the views from the outdoor deck were absolutely gorgeous! We had a lovely time in the outdoor space. It's only a five-minute drive away from Hay and they provided dinner recommendations which was so helpful. The breakfast was great too.
