Before attending the hotel I called the hotel to double check the spa had enough space for me and my wife and was told on two occasions on the phone before I made the payment we got there checked in went to the spa and was told the spa was at full capacity and if we come back in a hour or 2 there should be room at the spa we then went back to our room for a hour and a half then went back to the spa and was told unfortunately they are still at full capacity unhappy with this I asked to speak to the manager he came was unwilling to come up with a solution so we decided that we was gonna leave and get a refund just as we headed back to our room I went to the receptionist to get the email address I needed to complain to I told her about my situation and she immediately apologised and came up with a solution that got me and my wife in the spa in the evening and in the morning except from the start the stay turned out to be really nice had a great meal in the beautiful garden with great selection of drinks would definitely stay again if I didn’t have the same negative start

A part of the country I have not known until recently.

A part of the country I have not known until recently. Seems quite untouched by time. Visited Geddington to see the Eleanor Cross and village and area seem like Oxofrd int he 1950's or 30's but with modern cars about. Visited Boughton House and grounds which with gardens is briefly open in August I think this year (2025) - check website for current opening details or events when you see this. House with multi-layered sense of history. Well looked after, used in recent Holywood films such as Napoleon.

We booked four rooms and were assigned Rooms 11 and 12 among them. We had specifically reserved standard rooms with two beds, but the beds provided were far too small—my two sons could not comfortably share one. Unfortunately, our experience with the staff was deeply disappointing. They were dismissive, condescending, and at times outright rude. One staff member even used the word “stupid” toward us, which was completely unacceptable. It felt as though they were doing us a favor rather than offering a service we paid for. We had booked bed and breakfast, but upon arrival were informed that breakfast was not included—despite proof to the contrary. When we raised this, the staff was unhelpful and defensive. Carrying our luggage up the stairs was extremely difficult, as no assistance was offered. I even injured my leg trying to manage a heavy suitcase. The room itself was hot and uncomfortable—we woke up drenched in sweat. When we mentioned the heat, the receptionist responded by taking away our blankets, rather than offering any real solution. The internet was virtually unusable, and I was unable to complete important work during our stay. Overall, I was extremely disappointed by both the accommodation and the service, particularly from the front desk staff, including a slim male employee and the woman who responded to our concerns. The entire experience was frustrating and not at all reflective of the standards we expected when making this booking.

Numerous great Victorian and earlier buildings including many significant late Victorian/ Edwardian houses. Well maintained railway station. My trip was only 47 minutes duration from leaving London St Pancras Manor House Museum and the neighbouring Alfred East Art Gallery are closed until some indeterminate time in the future. Neighbouring Library staff very helpful with information and supplying cards with QR codes to link with historic building information on internet. I attended an exhibition in the Arena which is a great venue.

I have known Kettering for many years so this review will not be helpful to other travellers because I do not know what they are looking for, but like so many places the facilities have declined in the last forty years.

We were not told that booking for dinner was essential.

We were not told that booking for dinner was essential. We arrived at the restaurant to be told that it was fully booked and there was nothing they could do. So, I ended up driving around Desborough at night in the rain searching for a pub. It was both dangerous and frustrating. I live in South Africa where they always make sure that an extra place is made in these circumstances. It's hard to believe how little we as guests were valued. MC

A very neat little cottage, will full amenities and more. Absolutely delightful, tucked away location, although not too far from the rest of the world. A very quick overnight stay before moving on, but looking at the local options there is everything you need. Lee is a fantastic host, very accommodating, welcoming and only a message away. Much better than a stuffy hotel ! Will definitely consider this as an option should we be in the area again.

The property was amazing, all facilities were included. The location is great near the town centre, slightly away form Kettering hospital and the railway station. there were kettle, microwave, gas hob, oven, laundry machine, iron, spoons, knifes, plates, dishes, glasses, heaters, wifi router, TV. Water power was fine. Windows can be opened fully for ventilation. the space was OK for one or two persons

I booked a room for two nights for my nephews wedding day, which took place on the Saturday. A very nice hotel with very friendly staff. The food was nice too. The perfect place to hold a wedding and the reception. I didn't use the spa or the gym as I didn't have the time, but if I ever visit Kettering again, I will definitely use this hotel.

My friends, who live in Kettering, visited me at the hotel and received a warm welcome. It felt like a home from home, so I will definitely again, when next I visit my friends.
