Quite a nice are with lovely walks around and place to purchase Berry's and all sort of farmed food. Puzzlewood is amazing and the walks are medium but doable with kids (mine is 10 months but 2 years would cope). Small village but nice to walk around just for air, nothing extra interesting

It’s where I spent a lot of time as a teenager with my best friend who lived on the side of a hill just outside the village. Even taking into account the way times have changed since the early 70’s it a lovely local rural village. The main road through the village is busy now but I stayed in a quaint local haunted??? pub with the village stores opposite and a cheap petrol supply up the road. What more can you want? It is extremely quiet at night when the traffic stops and an excellent area to stay in if you want to explore the Wye or Severn Valley’s or the Forest of Dean. Gloucester is less than 20 miles away if you like Historic cities, Not quite like York but it was where Harry Potter had some if his adventures at the Cathedral. An excellent shopping centre if that’s your thing. You are unlikely to find the bright lights of Blackpool but there is plenty to do. Try the Railway Centre at Lydney or the views at Symonds Yat near Coleford. There’s a coal mine near Coleford which takes you under ground to see what mining was like over 100 years ago and Clearwell caves to explore. I sound like a tourist brochure but I can assure you I lived in the the Forest of Dean for the first 20 years of my life and in many ways it is still the place I remember except it is now much more up to date and not as far behind as is was back then. Try it out and enjoy a truly magical place to visit. It’s an area small enough to explore in a week or two but look out for the sheep, slow down and enjoy being away from the rat race.
