All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They made our stay a very happy one. My husband struggled with the stairs and they offered me two alternatives and both were lovely alternatives. The food and service was excellent. Lovely menu, choice and great flavours. Breakfast the best again great choices.

The vegetarian breakfast option was one of the best I’ve ever had and having a glass of wine in the ‘honesty bar’ after an evening out was a lovely end to the day. Will definitely recommend Orles Barn to family and friends.

Quite a nice are with lovely walks around and place to purchase Berry's and all sort of farmed food. Puzzlewood is amazing and the walks are medium but doable with kids (mine is 10 months but 2 years would cope). Small village but nice to walk around just for air, nothing extra interesting

It’s where I spent a lot of time as a teenager with my best friend who lived on the side of a hill just outside the village. Even taking into account the way times have changed since the early 70’s it a lovely local rural village. The main road through the village is busy now but I stayed in a quaint local haunted??? pub with the village stores opposite and a cheap petrol supply up the road. What more can you want? It is extremely quiet at night when the traffic stops and an excellent area to stay in if you want to explore the Wye or Severn Valley’s or the Forest of Dean. Gloucester is less than 20 miles away if you like Historic cities, Not quite like York but it was where Harry Potter had some if his adventures at the Cathedral. An excellent shopping centre if that’s your thing. You are unlikely to find the bright lights of Blackpool but there is plenty to do. Try the Railway Centre at Lydney or the views at Symonds Yat near Coleford. There’s a coal mine near Coleford which takes you under ground to see what mining was like over 100 years ago and Clearwell caves to explore. I sound like a tourist brochure but I can assure you I lived in the the Forest of Dean for the first 20 years of my life and in many ways it is still the place I remember except it is now much more up to date and not as far behind as is was back then. Try it out and enjoy a truly magical place to visit. It’s an area small enough to explore in a week or two but look out for the sheep, slow down and enjoy being away from the rat race.

I feel the issue with the electrics sparking was played down by the host. As an electrician I would not have passed these sockets pay testing clearly hadn’t been done. We left a day early due to sheer coldness and lack of heating. I appreciate it’s winter but surely the host wouldn’t stay in this freezing cold environment

It was amazing great views, very clean and tidy. Comfortable bed definitely somewhere to go and have an amazing relaxing time. It rained one night we was there and the sound of the fire going and the rain on the dome I was asleep in seconds. Not first time we have stayed there and definitely won’t be the last ❤️
