FAQs about hotels in Llandudno

Victorian Resort with a Welsh Twist

The most popular Wales seaside resort, Llandudno covers a peninsula with 2 sandy coastlines. The North Shore’s wide Victorian promenade is lined with period buildings which now house seafront hotels and guest houses. The beach itself stretches all the way between the Little Orme and Great Orme headlands, passing an outdoor swimming pool.

A historic tram climbs to the peak of Great Orme, where Bronze Age copper mines can be visited. The top is also reachable by cable car from Happy Valley, a recreation area with gardens and an artificial ski slope.

A road runs around the base of the headland passing the historic Grand Hotel, a property available on Booking.com and overlooking the Grade II-listed pier – the longest in Wales. The West Shore is much less developed and the Maesdu Golf Course forms most of its shoreline.

Of course, Llandudno has its fair share of traditional seaside pursuits such as donkey rides and fish and chip shops.

The town also has a modern retail park near the train station and Venue Cymru event centre, and wrought-iron canopies shade smaller shops along Mostyn Avenue, Broadway and Street. The latter - Mostyn Street - is effectively the high street and becomes brightly decorated during the Victorian carnival in May.

Poor experience

Poor experience On 15th November we checked into room G4 at 1515 hours after dropping our belongings in the room we proceed to go into town and met family for my partners birthday. We returned to the hotel at about 2100 hrs. We then proceed to get into bed that's when we noticed the damage mattress. The reception wasnt manned so could only inform your staff at 830am on 16th November. We only used the shower facilities and TV in the room and the bed that was broken thus having no sleep, we used the continental breakfast facilities. At 430pm on 16th November we were moved into room 204, we moved our belongings and then went out for tea returning at 2130hrs, on getting into bed we noticed the damaged and stained mattress, the cold wind coming through the window and the light coming through the door once again the reception was unmanned so couldn't report it. We never used any other room facilities apart from the TV and checked out at 8am, leaving keys in basket on reception desk. I hope this clarifies the situation for 2 nights we hardly used or had use of facilities due to the poor quality and issues with bed mattresses, Shower etc. Room G4 Mattress was so poor it had a large dip/slope in the middle on left side We had no sleep all night Room 204 Matress had same issue as G4 and was stained badly near top of mattress, windows let in cold air all night, Fire door wasnt fitted properly allowing light in all night, wallpaper coming away from wall, Shower rusty and screen dirty toilet seat moving, toilet door handle broken, sink missing plug We have been asking for a percentage refund and eere offered £26.00 for 2 nights accommodation that was appalling, they do not reply to your emails effectively. Waiting response.

Typical Victoriana interspliced withusual modern features (M&S, £land, charity shops). Beach fronts were clean and cared for. Easy bus routes with good frequencies. Several top quality restaurants, and fast food outlets. Many tactile pavement installations at crossing points, but with unintended consequences of flooding where surface water accumulates.

Brilliant resort with excellent restaurants and shops.

Brilliant resort with excellent restaurants and shops. The Abode and De Venezia restaurants are amazing. Parking a problem if staying overnight but the biggest issue is that Llandudno appears to have no functioning EV chargers. Podpoint App doesn't work as there was no phone signal on O2 and these are 7kw only. Wales Centre has two chargers that were broken with a car stuck on one of them. Spent too long on a short break looking for a charge! The drive up to Great Orme and the Pier and the seafront are so good and the town is relaxing to be in.

Great promenade , loved the lights at night , some of the scenery fantastic ( from the great Orme and western shore) Lots of lovely walks. Good selection of shops, in modern shopping centre and in the town centre which was quite attractive . Some very nice cafes and restaurants. Pier was great , really old fashioned ( ie vintage ) and cheerful . Great place for a year round break and also as a centre for exploring North Wales

A lovely, traditional seaside resort.

A lovely, traditional seaside resort. A great range of shops, both individual and national chains. Plenty of places to eat at all price levels. Venue Cymru is a large modern theatre which hosts a great variety of shows and events. Llandudno is also a good base for exploring further into North Wales.

June 2024. The owners were amazing. They couldn't do enough for you. The hotel is immaculate. The bedrooms have everything you need. I can't truly say enough about the breakfasts. The food was stunning, and you will be amazed at the product quality. I have stayed in many hotels but this was at the very top. Excellent value for money. If you want a beautiful sea view with a perfect location, this is the one for you. I wouldn't ever book another hotel in llandudno. We are returning in September 2024.

I loved this hotel. I have never been to a 'dog friendly' hotel which actually was dog friendly. There is a specific lounge and restaurant for those people staying who had a dog and the dog was aloud to sit with you. Loved the staff at the hotel, we only stayed 2 nights but they remembered our names when we ordered drinks or our breakfast/dinner. Thank you Llandudno Bay Hotel, you exceeded my expectation and as promised I will be back. Sue Caller

We love this hotel. This was our second stay here, we came for the pirates festival in Conwy. The hotel is in a perfect location opposite west shore Llandudno beach, with free on street parking. The rooms are of a good and comfortable standard, with sea views. The bar area is lovely, the breakfasts are delicious, the staff are brilliant and very helpful and the quality and value of the hotel overall, is amazing. We will be back next year.

Stayed here before and couldn’t believe the value for money so have returned, you will get better, more upmarket hotels, even in Llandudno but it’s really nice here, the staff are super friendly and helpful and a decent breakfast. Coupled with the location on the seafront, you won’t get a better pound for pound hotel in Llandudno. Will return again.

Excellent hotel and facilities and great location to seafront and Town centre. Dan is the jewel in the crown who looks after each and every guest with 1st class attention to detail and service with a smile. Yes the breakfast is "exceptional" as others have commented. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking at Llandudno for a visit.
