The Silk Museum is fantastic! Wonderful building, museum exhibits, and additionall tour of the silk mill. Very knowledgeable and engaging guide brought the experience and history to life. Could have spent much longer and will definitely return.

Macclesfield offered a peaceful and charming atmosphere.

Macclesfield offered a peaceful and charming atmosphere. The hotel environment was excellent — clean, serene, and surrounded by nature. We experienced great comfort throughout our two-day stay. The spa facilities and breakfast were delightful, and the staff at reception were polite and welcoming.

Macclesfield has a real personality, history and character.

Macclesfield has a real personality, history and character. One Sunday a month they have the Treacle Market, but it was cancelled due to Storm Bert. The silk museum was also closed, which was disappointing, so it could be worth another trip. We were only there overnight but felt a really pleasant vibe. It's set in a hilly landscape, and you are constantly reminded of this when looking around as you walk round town. Stunning.

We lived in Macclesfield over 18 years ago, and got married there, so this was a nostalgic trip. The town has become quite trendy in the intervening years with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Good to see some of the old stalwarts such as the Waters Green Tavern are still there and refusing to become even the slightest bit trendy!

A good base to visit Peak District.

A good base to visit Peak District. Shopping centre in decline. Local bus services in decline but possible to reach Hayfield and Buxton. Plus very good train service to Manchester, London, Birmingham etc. Some good eateries - especially excellent Plums Kitchen.

I like Macclesfield because it is a pretty town with good links to Manchester if you need the big city, the Peak District if you like walking, and Buxton if you want a bit of culture. The town is of a manageable size with pretty parks, and it has various small events going on in the local pubs, plus each month there is the Treacle Market, which is a popular feature of Macclesfield.

Great location in a lovely Cheshire village. We did a walk from the hotel to a waterfall and on to White Nancy, a rather unique folly (about an hour but be warned it is very hilly!). We stopped at the nearby Bulls Head on the way home for a well deserved pint! We had never visited this area before and were blown away by how lovely it was - well worth visiting. We also visited nearby Lyme Park - highly recommended. The hotel is comfortable with a pleasant restaurant. Large, comfy bed (Superior Double).

The location was perfect, close to many coffee shops and restaurants within easy walking distance of Macclesfield town centre. Highly recommend Surbuban Green the food was delicious and their cocktails sublime. Laura our host was friendly and accommodating, always responding to emails with requests immediately. Great vibe, if you are after a cosy, romantic but casual get away id recommend this lovely place. You can use all spa facilities and the pool and they have a restaurant in house, didn’t use as it didn’t have an atmosphere, however we went to the town centre and ate there, was in a good location! The rooms were beautiful and well equipped, I would recommend this hotel!
