Modernly furnished rooms, everything very clean, great pub atmosphere, still very quiet at night, all around an excellent place to stay. The hotel owner even drove us to the starting point of our hike. Where else can you find such a selfless willingness to do something good for your guests without asking for anything in return? Just great!

Great friendly staff , great atmosphere on the bar/eating area. The room was spacious, very well decorated , clean and a great powerful shower. Would highly recommend.

Rooms were beautifully decorated.. ( sky tv complimentary water etc) staff so lovely & helpful There is a courtesy car which can take you to and from the other restaurants ie Milsoms & Talbooth … If you don’t want the continental breakfast which is offered here you can go to Milsoms for a cooked full English which is excellent. ( lots if choice on Milsoms menu) we love the spa here which is amazing

Our whole experience was excellent from the moment we arrived, beautiful place, great staff, service was excellent and the rooms were beautiful. The food was absolutely delicious, and we were made to feel very welcome ❤️

I loved the hotel and would definitely stay there again when visiting Colchester! Very good value for money. The room was huge, with a double bed and a sofa. The bathroom was nice as well, the shower room was huge and it had shampoo, shower gel and soap for the hands. The room was very clean and had a kettle and everything to have a tea in the room. The staff was very friendly! You can ask for a comb, toothbrush or shaving kit for free in the reception. I had dinner in the restaurant, tried different food and it was delicious and very tasty, also affordable.

Really lovely spot with nice options for drinking and eating...

Really lovely spot with nice options for drinking and eating. Some really beautiful walks too and very close to Mistley which is worth a visit. The people were incredibly friendly The Crown pub, the Estuary wine bar and Mistley Thorn some favourites to pick out.

Pretty town but only small & being a bank holiday most...

Pretty town but only small & being a bank holiday most places were closed. Would however recommend a visit to Alton Water reservoir a few miles away & Felixstowe which only takes about half an hour.

Manningtree is a small, quite charming, little town about 10...

Manningtree is a small, quite charming, little town about 10 miles from Harwich so ideal if you are going to /coming of the ferry. We only stayed for one night and didn't use the kitchen but everything seemed to be there. The place was clean and warm with a comfy bed and good shower.
