I used to live there 20 years ago and whilst it’s changed a-lot with businesses it’s still bustling which is great to see for one of the UK’s popular seaside resorts. A lot of films have been based down there giving it a constant reminder to come on down and pay a visit!

Margate is nit the same place ww visited in the late 90s it has improved beyond our expectations. The old town is a mini Brighton, fab pubs and eateries. Great atmosphere. Art centre, harbour area lovely. Note a huge eastern European influence in other areas. That spoiled the typical traditional seaside vibe

In the 70's Margate/Cliftonville was fabulous a hive of activity...the beaches was jam packed with people...the high street was fabulous..but now high street has hardly anything shops a lady stopped me to ask where the high street was...I said your in it...! Very sad looking area now... Where the pier used to be there's now some awful modern monstrosity of a building looking like metal huge boxes...supposedly an art gallery I heard...really awful looking 😖 Around to Cliftonville the Winter gardens looked derelict as well as the Lido area...and the Llidoo swimming pool was filled in with cement donkeys years ago and the walls of pool are now falling into the sea..sad!...when I think back how these places was a hive off activity and all guest houses packed...now your hard pushed to find one...but i did and it was great

We had a lovely time and found lovely places to eat.

We had a lovely time and found lovely places to eat. They catered for our special needs of glutton free for us all. Lafayette's food lovely and all welcoming and helping to give us the correct food for our particular needs which are many. Nothing was too much trouble. In really nice surroundings so went there three times in two days. Enjoyed going to the Shell Grotto very interesting and the Crab Museum great for the kiddies.

We come every year

We come every year Not a shopping place if wanting big name stores . The town is small and easy to access. Lovely main sands and small bit of beach near the flat was nice and tidal pool easy to access We ate at mechanical elephant and Peter fish and chips. Margatevis easy to access 8 had no young children but we have accessed the escape rooms shell grotto chalk caves and Walpole Bay hotel for cream teas . We were able to get a none bus to Canterbury from right outside the flat .

I had heard it was up-and-coming.

I had heard it was up-and-coming. With money spent on it it could be a beautiful Victorian seaside resort. The Old Town was interesting and with lovely shops and eateries. We loved the coastline. Great Viking walking trail. The Turner Contemporary was lovely. The Opex Gardens were excellent - with a garden centre and many activities for families. Some nice surrounding places to visit were Deal and Walmer, Sandwich and Canterbury. I believe Minnis Bay coast is very attractive. There was an interesting Nature park near Birchington.

Great location, just a 2min walk from the Westbrook Bay beach and then about a 10min walk to Margate's Main Sands beach (which is a very lovely walk indeed!). Cosy, clean house and welcoming environment. The host, Jim, was very friendly and nice to chat to; he was also nice enough to upgrade me to a larger private cabin that was available at the time, which I really appreciated. Breakfast was tasty and I thought the dining room was cosy with a TV and overlooking the garden. Comfortable mattress. Overall, great value!

The hotel has SO much character, I could have stayed put and not even ventured into Margate. The veranda was beautiful with all the flowers. The afternoon tea looked amazing, so we'll defo be trying that when we return. Being so close to the tidle pool meant we were able to get 2 swims in. The farmers market in the back field was a bonus (last Sunday of the month)... The produce was some of the best I've sampled at a market ever (bread, fish, pies, flowers, coffee, mushrooms, etc, etc).

A lovely, boutique hotel right on the sea front in the heart of Margate, steps away from the old town. Staff were incredible, felt like we were being welcomed into their home! Incredibly comfy bed and fab view from our room. The continental breakfast and juice-stocked fridge were a nice touch. Much better value than other options in Margate in high season.
