An extremely cosy, delightful cottage for a peaceful Xmas break. A very generous welcome hamper was much appreciated, as was the woodburning stove! Cottage located very near the main square in Middleton, with handy shops for provisions. Accessible by public transport too. Lovely local walks direct from the cottage. Would happily return!

Lovely location. Ended up having a good few drinks with the staff and locals. The food was excellent (although they don't serve food on Mondays and Tuesdays) we even filled two flasks of their soup to take away with us.

We booked accommodation for evening at Grassholme observatory - clear night and knowledgeable and enthusiatic leaders. Middleton in Teesdale had a selecd.tion of pubs/restaurants but very little else. However trips to High Force and Bowes musuem, made the weekend enjoyable.

Nice area.

Nice area. There are plenty of places to eat in Middleton in Teesdale- 2 pubs and at least 4 cafes. A COOP is useful to pickup sandwiches and drink for day trips or walking in the countryside. A limited bus service to Barnard Castle, and only one bus service per week on a Wednesday to High Force area. There are plenty of country walks starting from Middle in Teesdale. The only disappointment is the tourist information centre is shut. Finally, the people there will say hello to you in the streets.

High Force and Low Force were amazing to see.

High Force and Low Force were amazing to see. Raby Castle was incredibly interesting and in such great condition. The Bowes Museum was spectacular, and that was just the building, let alone the fasinating art collections inside. Eating out was easy. The Teeside Hotel was good, Forresters French Restaurant was delicious and the Moorcock Inn was great value with tasty home cooked favourites.

I had not stayed in this hotel or area before and it exceeded my expectations The room was very comfortable especially the bed! It’s a good for many activities including walking cycling touring places like Barnards Castle Bishop Aukland Bowes Museum and Raby Castle in particular. The town itself is very attractive and good for a stroll around I was travelling on my own and they were friendly and helpful. The food was very good and locally sourced. I had my evening meal there as well Parking was secure. I would heartily recommend

Amazing place, so many walks to do and so much beauty around it. Buses easy to go to different places .we at at the Teesdale good food as a one off as expensive. Went to the fish shop which was amazing for the price We will be back

Booking .com provided accurate information re The Teesdale. There is outside seating at the front of the hotel in the village, with a warm friendly atmosphere. Restaurant serves good food or there is the Chippy across the road if you want something quick and substantial.

On arrival we found out the kitchen was closed (The restaurant only opens on Wednesday and Saturday) and there were no bar meals on offer. We were advised to go to the hotel over the road to eat, they were fully booked, the only option left to us was sandwiches from the Co-op, every other place in town being closed on Monday. Not what we wanted after a long day's traveling. The bedroom was good and the bathroom was excellent, the largest I have ever had in a hotel
