FAQs about hotels in Milton Keynes

A Hub of Entertainment

Best known for its concrete cows and legendary roundabout system, Milton Keynes is just off the M1 motorway linking Birmingham and London. Its proximity to the latter triggered its development from village to new town in the 1960s.

Milton Keynes Village still exists, between tranquil Ouzel Valley Park and Willen Lake with its peace pagoda and watersports. Next door, Gulliver’s Land children’s theme park is bordered by the Grand Union Canal, whose banks have cycle and footpaths.

In the town centre is the aptly named MK Hub, an entertainment core near the train station. In addition to accommodation, bars and restaurants, it houses the huge Xscape complex, comprising the Airkix Indoor Skydiving centre, cinemas, and the UK’s largest indoor ski slope. Nearby are the shops of Centre: MK and Midsummer Place.

On the town’s outskirts is the National Bowl entertainment venue, and Bletchley Park, where the German Enigma code was cracked during World War II. To the east Woburn Abbey has a large safari park, while north-west is Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing F1 team are based in Milton Keynes, and the MK Dons are the local football team. The Open University is also headquartered here.

Of the many Milton Keynes hotels, apartments and B&Bs on Booking.com, most have parking and some have swimming pools.

CANNOT FAULT THE STAFF THEY WERE VERY GOOD, HOWEVER MY ROOM ALLOCATED WAS NOT UP TO SCRATCH, BLOOD ON SHOWER CURTAIN! HOUSE KEEPER DID NOT SPEAK ENGLISH, TAPS IN BATHROOM WOULD NOT TURN ON OR OFF WITHOUT A STRUGGLE MANAGEMENT DID NOTHING TO RESOLVE ANYTHING. HAD TO HAVE SOME ONE TO FIX TAPS. Have stayed here before with much better experience.

The city has extensive green spaces, which are easily accessible via the Red Routes for pedestrians and cyclists. I enjoyed a walk with friends from a friend's house just outside the City through the nearby woodland. However the city is very much designed around the car and the bus service is poor. As a non-driver, this means I have to rely on lifts from freinds or taxis. At the moment the whole square in front of the railway station has been dug up, making the railway station very difficult to reach on foot, but I understand that it is due to be re-opened shortly with a new floor mural. It is pleasant to walk around the tree-lined boulevards in the city centre, although it is designed around car access, so it can be difficult to access buildings like the shopping centre on foot. I have enjoyed visiting the MK Museum and the MK Gallery previously, but I didn't have time this weekend.

MK central offers so much variety in such a short distance all within 5minutes or less to the Central Train station. The shopping arcades have a great mix of shops and restaurants to appeal to everyone and Xscape is another close entertainment area that provides activities and bars/restaurants in 1 convenient mall. The e-scooters & e-bikes make a superb alternative to Ubers or driving and the road system is very simple & well planned out.

Milton Keynes is a much misunderstood city.

Milton Keynes is a much misunderstood city. There are a lot of great places here (not just roundabouts!). There are old towns within in the city that have great pubs and restaurants. The shopping is very good too.

I can not express how grateful I am for the service I received. It is a spotlessly clean house with everything you need for a short stay. I loved the living room most, exceptional place to chill out after a busy day. Separate thanks for biscuits and fruits. I stay in this place every time I come to Milton Keynes and highly recommend to other travellers

We didn't have time to visit the centre but, as a returning local, I know that there is a good selection of shops if that is your thing. Bletchley Park was fantastic but next time we will allocate far more time to explore it fully. We visited friends and family in Stoke Goldington and Newport Pagnell, both still pretty in their own way, and ate at the Swan Revived.

We were traveling to Milton Keynes for a birthday celebration and decided to book last minute accommodation near the event. Hotel was really close to the venue and was great value for money. Facilities were clean and room was comfortable. If we ever travel down to Milton Keynes we will book again

Got to watch Milton Keynes Dons lose 0-3 to Barrow. Breakfast staff were very nice. The parking seemed a bit daunting, but it was well organised in the hotel. No £100 fine for me!
