Great location right on edge of town with plenty of shops, restaurants, coffee lounges, hotels and other eating places. Hairdressers and barbers, and outdoor hiking and other specialty shops also. The Riverside Hotel is not far off main highway and provides good breakfasts and parking is available. We would not hesitate to recommend to other visitors looking to stay in this interesting town of Monmouth.

The location was just 2 miles away from Tintern Abbey and Village with the river Wye running alongside. The cottage itself was private and so roomy considering it was one bed. Cosy, quaint and full of character.,

We have just returned from a fantastic short stay at Hilston Park. We were incredibly impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff at Hilston. From the cleanliness of rooms, the beautiful setting, watching the sunrise over the hills, meeting the resident dog Hugo, and just generally having a fantastic time we would definitely return. We had a delivery from the local kebab and fish and chip shop, for some excellent evening food, and took advantage of the morning breakfast service. I’d highly recommend Queens fish and chip shop that deliver for £3. From weighted blankets, to smart TVs where you can log into your own TV apps, it was a home away from home. Underfloor heating, hot shower, heating throughout, all the comforts you could need. With the offer of a football a large field for my kids to run around in, it was relaxing and offered beautiful scenery for a fantastic stay in gorgeous Monmouthshire, many thanks to the team at Hilston

it's a real town, not just a beautiful tourist magnet. we stayed downtown in old lodge above pub-loved how quirky it was. we rested and regrouped in monmouth. took walk in the fields across the river and around town. i enjoyed the bookstores and thrift stores. i was really impressed with the green walls of the public restrooms by the historic bridge which had gorgeous flowers which inspired me to paint.

Great little down.

Great little down. High street has good selection of shops and eateries. Reasonable prices for food and drink. People very friendly. Pubs were pleasantly lively but not rammed on Saturday night. Surrounding countryside very pretty. Definitely worth a one day visit.

There is so much to see and do in and around Monmouth, I didn't have enough time to really explore but there's a record shop, fabric shop and loads of places to walk as well. We popped into the whole food store and was delighted with the range of items and the friendly staff.

We were trekking from Symmonds yat to Monmouth, spending a night in monmouth and then trekking on to st Brievals 12th century hostel the next day. Monmouth is Perfect intermediate spot along the wye valley walk by the river river Ross. Went to Monmouth castle, the regimental museum and walked around the town, including the fortified bridge. Had coffee on high street, a cornish pasty from the pasty shop and went to roof top terrace Italian restaurant for dinner which was popular and nice. Went to the local historic cinema to see a film to end off the evening.

I love the area.

I love the area. The Savoy Cinema is a little treasure and spent the weekend at a festival there so I can't really speak for solo travellers because I met up with others at the festival. It was superb and I hope it is held there again next year because I will definitely return to Monmouth.
