Absolutely everything (and Im fussy). beautifully refurbished bar and spotless, comfortable and well appointed accommodation. everything you need and easy parking. delicious food in the bar/restaurant and a great choice of all courses beautifully cooked. very sociable and professional owners and staff and nothing was too much trouble. eg wanting different veg and spuds from those suggested on the menu. Loved the breakfast room with great choice of teas/coffees, cereals and fruit. And of course a fry-up and other options all freshly cooked to your specific requirements. Location was prefect too at the entrance to the valley with many walk options.

    Wonderful town; it even has a bank! Plus excellent shopping, all the outlets I like. In lovely setting with River Wansdyke through it. Lots of pretty old buildings with history attached. And near the coast, the Cheviots, and NT Cragside

    A historic and interesting small town - was a staging post...

    A historic and interesting small town - was a staging post on the Great North Road, hence it's closeness to the current A1. Also on East Coast main railway line so easy access. Free disc parking in town car parks and a good range of shops both national brands and local. Lidl and Morrisons supermarkets quite central. Lovely park with paddling pool and playground with old motte and bailey mound still there. Boating on the river in summer. Small castle but is a private residence. Close to Cragside and Wallington National trust properties and beach at Newbiggin. Northumberland Zoo nearby and well worth a visit with children. Could go on but will finish there with a would recommend comment!

    The time we arrived, there wasn’t a lot to do or see, as we arrived late in the afternoon. The Main Street had plenty of shops and food take a ways, with some restaurants. Would really have to spend a little more time there to explore.

THERE IS A WONDERFUL PARK NEARBY WITH A BOATING LAKE, PLAY PARK AND LARGE ROUND OUTDOOR PADDLING POOL, WONDERFUL WALKS AND FACILITIES FOR FAMILIES, LOTS OF EATERYS AND PUBS. NOOKS AND CRANNYS TO EXPLORE AS WELL AS A DIVERSE RANGE OF SHOPS WITH THE LONG ESTABLISHED FAMILY DEPARTMENT STORE BUSINESS OF RUTHERFORDS WITH SMASHING TEA ROOM. I WAS PLEASED TO DISCOVER A WONDERFUL LEISURE CENTRE FACILITY NEARBY WITH POOLS, CHILDRENS PLAY AREA, CAFE AND LIBRARY. IT WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE A BRILLIANT STAY REGARDLESS

    Found Morpeth a very clean town, and especially the parking system where you can purchase a disc for £1 and use it as often as you need in different car parks. Found it an excellent idea a nd charities benefit from it. Other towns should follow suit. Lovely upmarket shops as well as the usual ones. Lovely floral displays around the town.

    The room was very clean and spacious. The bathroom was absolutely lovely. The shower was hot and a good pressure. We could have done with two soaps and shampoos etc. The towels were soft and fluffy. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and dinner. The dinner was a little expensive, but the food was excellent. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We loved the small copse behind the hotel. It was a very peaceful walk. The building itself is really lovely and the drive in is very pleasant. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Lovely cottage in the centre of Morpeth, very quiet setting and within walking distance of the bars and restaurants of Morpeth, also central for visiting other parts of Northumberland. Train station a short walk away where you can catch the train into Newcastle for the day or Edinburgh the other direction.
