The location is peaceful in the beautiful countryside. It is the prettiest group of buildings and looks like a place out of a tourist advert. Even the rooms look picturebook cute.The rooms are fabulous, spacious and the beds are so heavenly! We had a first class dinner, melt in the mouth steaks out on the sun terrace chatting to people at other tables. It was like being in Italy under the vine draped canopy. The pub section is just so what a person would imagine an olde English pub/Inn to look and feel like. The surroundings could not fail to put anyone in a good mood! Our kids joined in with other guests kids playing on the tennis courts and they all had a great time, while the adults soaked in the tranquility that seemed to ooze from the Inn. The staff could not possibly have been nicer during our stay, lovely, chatty, personable & professional. Nothing was a problem and there were no problems during our stay. Stresses just seem to melt away and the outside world ceased to exist! We would very highly recommend staying here. It seemed to have all kinds of people staying there, but everyone was civilised and respectful in maintaining the tranquility. We found out in the morning that it is also a wedding venue. Staff were setting up for an upcoming wedding, and it looked so perfect for anyone wanting a unique wedding in a beautiful countryside setting, with a lovely venue and guaranteed scrumptious food & drinks with their friends and family.

Deb, the host, is one of the nicest hosts we ever had. She was utterly friendly, helpful, nice and the breakfast she made for us was to die for! We felt like we were in a 5* hotel and at the same time at a cozy cottage with a family member. Country chic and charme describes the location best. You sleep in absolute silence and wake up to the sound of birds chirping. There is no traffic, the only thing crossing our way while walking to the local pub was a deer! It's also closely located to touristic attractions such as Stonehenge and Stourhead. Bear, Deb's dog, was the cherry on the cake to our stay!

Absolute hidden gem !! I stay in hotels all over the country and this was an excellent Really comfy bed , nice bedding, good shower , kettle , tea coffee , parking was great and the host was lovely!

Really nice place to stay local shop and cafe nearby and...

Really nice place to stay local shop and cafe nearby and garage is 2 and a half miles away with a lidl there also room was really good and the small kitchen with microwave is great also they have a fridge but didnt look like it was working as stuff didn't get cold but i would definitely 100% stay again.

The room was a good size BUT there was a nasty smell in there, a mouldy drains smell. one of the towels was stained and another one was quite old, starting to fray and smelt unpleasant. The live music in the bar was very good. the view from our room was excellent.

Easy to reach from main roads, but very little traffic...

Easy to reach from main roads, but very little traffic through the village itself. Lovely village pub, in great location, with good food and variety of drinks (happy hour on Friday was an unexpected bonus). Small village store for essentials, but easy to reach larger supermarkets. Lots of footpaths and cycle paths cross the village, so perfect for outdoor walks.

Motcombe Village is a Dorset treasure placed between...

Motcombe Village is a Dorset treasure placed between Shaftesbury and Gillingham. I know it well as it is my home village. It has a Village Shop and Post Office, a Village School and a Village Hall,, as well as The Copperidge Inn, now its only pub after The Royal Oak closed. It has beautiful fields to walk your dog in and you can also take some pleasing walks around the area. Gillingham has links to London by train and it is only a short distance to Motcombe from there. Shaftesbury too is a short distance from Motcombe - both worth a visit. Motcombe is a peaceful rural place and you can offer hear sheep bleating and the sounds of horse hooves on the local roads.
