I loved the decor, from the carpet to the cushions to the overall ambience, which was relaxing and welcoming when I entered. The bathroom and shower were high class and gave the impression that much thought had been given to creating a compact but very useable experience while taking a shower and using toilet facilities.

FAQs about hotels in Newcastle upon Tyne

The Spirit of the North

A former Industrial Revolution hub, Newcastle has reinvented itself into a vibrant, forward-thinking city. Although no longer brewed here, Newcastle Brown Ale, or Newkie Brown, is synonymous with the city, so it’s no surprise that the nightlife is fantastic.

From the O2 Academy to the Sage Music Centre, the Newcastle music venues are among the best in England. The city also has a thriving arts scene, including The Biscuit Factory – Britain’s largest original art store.

Equally as good is the Newcastle shopping. The Central Arcade is in an attractive Victorian building, and across the River Tyne in Gateshead is the Metro Centre, Europe’s largest shopping and leisure complex. Indeed, these 2 cities have a healthy rivalry that plays out in sport, architecture and, sometimes, the bizarre.

Gateshead boasts the Angel of The North, a huge statue that is already its most recognised (and controversial) symbol. While in Newcastle the Vampire Rabbit sits above a door near St Nicholas’ Cathedral. Newcastle United Football Club has the most prestigious record, but Gateshead Stadium has seen many a star compete at its international athletics meets.

To the west of the city are some remains of Hadrian’s Wall and further north is Newcastle Airport. See Booking.com for a range of accommodation all over this happening city.

A great place, fantastic architecture and friendly people, lots of attractions, places to eat. A handy metro for getting around Tyneside to visit family or friends and get some sea air walking done. Gateshead is nice as well with plenty little bars, cafes and attractions. I liked walking around the city photographing the old and modern buildings.

we stayed in a riverside hotel where a five minute walk away was a vibrant night scene with plenty of bars and restaurants and lots of people enjoying the night life. very pretty millennium foot bridge lit up at night and a great view of the Tyne bridge. Not sure what i was expecting when i turned up but the regeneration of the river side makes Newcastle a great short break choice.

To all you unfit people out there, just be aware that there is a climb into the main shopping/social area of Newcastle (Grey street/rd),lovely coming down it,but he'll on your legs going up the first couple of times. Lovely riverside market on Sundays that we didn't know about, food stalls from all over the world there, plus lovely little independent craft stalls. Plenty to do in town if bad weather head to the indoor food/shopping area called Eldon square, lots of shops and food retailers all under one roof, plenty of choice for everyone.

Great location right in the centre of Newcastle about 300m from the Bigg Market and many other city centre Pubs and restaurants. Very close to the Metro and main Railway Station. The street in front of the hotel can be busy and loud even late at night but there was security on the front door on the Saturday night and we requested a quiet room (6th Floor) and had a peaceful nights sleep! If however you want to be in the thick of the nightlife this hotel is the right choice.
