Everything! Perfect place & perfect host: James ´s adorable cottage is super comfy, super clean, exquisitely decorated, with all you could wish for in terms of modern facilities (nicely hot water always available, massive TV screen with Netflix etc, excellent heating system, you name it…).Communication with James is super easy & efficient and he will do his utmost to make your stay a great experience: I was so grateful when I found out he had actually bought a foam bed to ensure the mattress in my room would be super soft, when I told him I had bad arthritis! The location is great: within easy walking distance from all the major attractions (you don’t want to miss the museums - I was really impressed by the collection of the Lady Lever Gallery, with an impressive selection of works by the best Pre-Raphaelites. And the very concept of the workers ´village born of the will of the soap magnate W. Lever is in itself worth the detour !). Finally, should you have noticed the proximity of the railway, it’s actually not a problem: I had brought earplugs as I am fussy about noise, but realized both road & rail traffic are non-existant at night so I never needed them and slept extremely well. I had an excellent stay and couldn’t recommend this place enough: probably one of the greatest value for money I ever had!

The area of Port Sunlight has very good transport links into either Liverpool or Chester by metro train or buses, both of which are reliable and frequent. There is a lot to see in the area such as a very good garden centre and an art gallery and museum, all worth a visit.

We went to the Lady Lever Art gallery, which is well worth a visit. Had tea in the tea rooms opposite Port Sunlight train station, as the tea rooms at lady lever was temporarily closed. With more time we would have had a good look around the village and it's beautiful historic buildings.

This was a return trip to an area that I had lived in for 39 years. I am glad to say that very little has changed in the overall view of the Village, however, I was not there for the Village but to visit the graves of family members in and around the Wirral and the Village was simply a Central Hub for my plans. I also know the History of the Village which made the stay even better.

Lovely little town, which is worth exploring, Hulme Hall has special significance for Beatle Fans as it is the first place the Beatles played a few days after Ringo replaced Pete Best. The station is located at Port Sunlight, so the Wirral line gives easy access to Liverpool and Chester. The Bridge Inn is a typical older pub, and accommodation is basic but acceptable. Staff were friendly and helpful. I have stayed there twice over the last several years and would happily go back again if the opportunity arises.

The cottage is a delight, full of original features yet with a tasteful modernization, very comfortable indeed, immaculately presented in every way. There is parking on site and the railway station is a short walk away, to get to Liverpool, Chester etc. Communication and advice from our host was first class. It felt a privilege to stay in an original cottage at Port Sunlight and everything was beyond expectations. With thanks
