Isle of Raasay is beautiful and definitely worth the ferry ride. It‘s a great way to combine an overnight stay with a whisky tasting and distillery tour. The 3-course dinner menu at the hotel restaurant as well as the breakfast were delicious. We stayed in room 5 which I guess is the smallest but it has all what‘s required for a short stopover… The tasting and distillery tour is for obernight guests free, which we did’t know at first but the hotel refunded the prebooked tours… the staff and tour guide were very passionate and friendly. It was a hreat experience! We would recommend it to everyone travelling around isle of skye…

Cosy caravan with all equipment you require and special attention to detail. Lovely little items like the "happy rabbit doll" made us smile. You need to come yourself to find all the hidden gems. Lauren and her family were great hosts. Fresh eggs from their chicken and a very lovely dog greeted us too. We felt most welcome and should have stayed longer than 2 nights.

Of all the Hebridean islands I have visited, Raasay for me...

Of all the Hebridean islands I have visited, Raasay for me is the most magical. It cannot be 'done in a day'. Walking up Dun Caan on a clear night (especially if there are Aurora Borealis around), is incomparable, though decent torches and boots are a must for the walk. The Miners' trail and other forestry walks are good treks, with useful information available about their history online and on the info panels at the start in Inverarish Forest. I love wild swimming, and there are several lochans worthy of a short dip - mostly shallow, such as Home Loch by Orchard Wood for beginners - and North Bay offers a good sea swim. For eating out there's a small choice - both the Distillery and Raasay House restaurant have a good selection of local food, catering for vegetarians and meat eaters alike, though their seafood is always a good choice. If you are self-catering, the village shop has a good stock of essentials, especially wholefoods, but it might be worth bringing some supplies, and phoning in advance to see what fresh produce they have available the week you are there. Calum's Road offers spectacular views with a lot of history (see the book by Roger Hutchinson for the background; sadly, the council hasn't had the resources to keep up with the potholes around the island, and driving needs to be cautious). The Outdoor Centre has a good range of activities in the summer, including cycling, kayaking, archery etc.

It was a beautiful island, but without activities, you might as well make a day trip and spend the money on better accommodation in the area, where you also have the option to choose from more restaurants.

Raasay is an idyllic island, easily accessible with history leaking from every waterfall. Geologically unique, it has a place in history from early days, through medieval castles, brutal highland clearances, iron ore mining, WW1 POWS, and 10 yrs toil of Callum Macleod... recently, a new distillery and a innovative electricity generating plant. A new Ferry terminal (a few years ago) is the vehicle for people to discover and blend all of the above to their own specifications

If you can stay on Isle of Skye, do so.

If you can stay on Isle of Skye, do so. While the ferry ride is short, there are very few things to do on Raasay and only one, possibly two restaurants of any type. The hotel itself is beautiful, but the room we had which must have at one time been the attic room for servants was so small, the queen size bed barely fit. Our window looked out on the back yard and was where the garbage cans were. It was quite noisy as staff hauled out garbage and clanked bottles late at night. Also there was no shade onthe window to block the light from the enormous street light. The library was beautiful and filled with interesting books and things, but the small coal (I think) fireplace was underwhelming. The staff was great! Mostly students working the summer, but really efficient and pleasant. I would have a different review perhaps if my room had been better.

The Distillery is a great option to stay while visiting the Highlands and going up north. It's a top choice to feel and breathe the nature while enjoying a very comfortable evening. It is a good idea to bring the car into the island if you can spare the time to tour around - just beware that you have to fit your schedule to the ferry timetables and it can be tricky on Sundays. Regarding meal options, also note that there could be no other options apart from the hotel ( we were here mid-May).

This is a fabulous place to stay whether you are interested in whiskey or not. If you are planning a trip to Skye come across the water to Raasay. The room we had was absolutely fabulous with a beautiful view. I am interested in and drink whiskey and it was great to have the opportunity to stay in a distillery. I loved the chance to explore Raasay and the walled garden of the nearby Raasay House is amazing. If you are thinking of going - don't hesitate.

Raasay House is a beautiful property in a stunning location and it has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. i enjoyed sitting and looking out at the view as the sun set. I enjoyed the property grounds, kitchen gardens and the inclusion of beautiful ceramic door panels and door knobs that reflect the local flora. The relationship between the ceramics and walks / hikes on the island is a lovely story and idea for guests.

An amazing place which we enjoyed so much - the house was luxurious and the nature breathtaking - absolutely a highlight on our Scotland tour - would have loved to stay longer - highly recommendable - the local Whiskey distillery was a great experience and the Raasay hotel provided an opportunity to purchase a minivan ride from property to ferry upon departure.

Loved this hotel! Perfect island breakaway. It was my daughter's birthday and the staff at lunch and dinner went the extra mile to make her feel special. The food was excellent with lots to do. Enjoyed biking around the island, the whiskey tour next door at the distillery. And the spectacular views!!
