Visiting Fountains Abbey/Studley Deer Park so this was an ideal place to stay overnight. We called in on the first day and realised we could have a breakfast... and it was a fabulous breakfast and great coffee too. The staff couldn't have been any better utterly amazing. We returned late afternoon to check in - fabulous room so spacious, comfortable, clean and very much up to date. Fabulous bathroom/wet room. View across the fields, and also patio doors and small patio area with chairs and table too. Naturally we had an evening meal beside the log burner, so relaxing meal was excellent but we could only manage the starter and main course (so full). Loads of on site parking, a garden and patio (if the weather is warm etc) Staff were amazing, friendly, helpful etc. We will be back to stay again next year to explore a little more of the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. Cannot recommend enough - absolutely fabulous place

Really loved this pub. A wonderful place to stay. We had a fabulous room with a super large and comfy bed. All the staff were very friendly and the food was great too. I have no hesitation in recommending this as a great place to stay!

I had the most wonderful stay at Gospatric House. From the moment I arrived, Angela and Martin were exceptional hosts – incredibly welcoming, genuinely kind, and wonderfully flexible with my arrival time. They went above and beyond to make me feel at home, and their warmth really made my stay special. The house itself is absolutely beautiful – full of charm, character, and a cosy, quaint atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. My room was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully presented. Breakfast was delicious, clearly made with care, and enjoyed in such a peaceful, lovely setting. The village is idyllic, the perfect backdrop for a relaxing break. I only wish I could have stayed longer. I also loved meeting their gorgeous dog, Kirkby, who added an extra touch of joy to the whole experience. Gospatric House is a real gem, and Angela and Martin are truly outstanding hosts. I’d recommend this place wholeheartedly and can’t wait for the chance to return.

Such a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere. So accommodating. Great room and sleep and lovely breakfast. Beautiful location, just be advised that you need to book a taxi in advance as there is little phone reception and it is hard to get a taxi last minute.

Ripon turned out to be a surprising gem of a place.

Ripon turned out to be a surprising gem of a place. Great atmosphere and some wonderful, independent shops which is always a bonus. The Portly Pig was a great find - alongside some excellent beer and mulled wine, we had the most wonderful fruit cake with Wensleydale cheese on the top - majestic! Lovely to see the cathedral, and we also got to experience the nightly horn blower in the market square - fascinating!

Lovely place, the Cathedral was very interesting.

Lovely place, the Cathedral was very interesting. Will visit again lots of places to visit and a host of independent shops. Had a fabulous meal at Mario’s would recommend , also ate at the Ripon Inn which was very good and value for money.

Ripon is absolutely beautiful, there is so much history.

Ripon is absolutely beautiful, there is so much history. Lots to see and do. We crammed in as much as possible while there including coming to the Obelisk at 9pm to observe the hornblowing tradition. We visited the police & Prison museum and the workhouse museum, visited the cathedral, grabbed some lunch. And did some geocaching too.

What a beautiful town. Loved the cathedral. The little quaint street with all the unusual shops was a delight. And plenty of places to eat. The river walk is delightful with all the splendid little ducks.

We weren't there long enough to really get to know the...

We weren't there long enough to really get to know the village (town?) but it looked as if there were some interesting walks for the dogs, an interesting river,birdwatching oportunities etc, and quite a few pubs for a place that size! Always a good shout. It also lacked a really busy main road cutting through (at least, from where we were staying) so not much traffic noise and easy to get about without getting knocked down!

The flower baskets and bunting were beautiful (a council worker was watering even on a weekend) and the park was stunning. The Cathedral was incredible and a wonderful Sunday service. Shops looked interesting and plenty of variety however didn’t have time to do. Everywhere appeared very clean

My first visit to a Wetherspoons Hotel and I was not disappointed. Exceptional value for money with a well equiped and clean room with a very comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and efficient and when checking in, the gentleman told me about the Ripon hornblower at 9pm in the Market Place outside the front of the hotel, a spectacle not to be missed. Food was typical JDW fare, again good value for money.

The whole hotel looked recently refurbished, very smart, tidy. Great location a short walk to the town centre. Parking was easy on site, always found a space. Breakfast was very nice. Liked the serve yourself option for both the continental and cooked breakfast options.
