We had a truly wonderful stay here. The loft room was so nice , and the whole house was spotless and very well maintained. It’s excellent value for money, with a delicious continental breakfast each morning. The location is perfect, with a beautiful sea view that made the mornings extra special. The host was incredibly warm and welcoming. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a clean, cozy, and well-located place to stay.

I had read reviews saying the hotel was rather tired and dated but we found it attractive and very comfortable and certainly NOT tired or dated- the bedrooms ( we had standard twin) was extremely spacious with a desk, sofa set into bay window overlooking the sea ) it was wonderful - it was clean, well maintained - lovely bathroom ( note- our room 154 there was no heating in there and too cold - we had extremely cold weather with snow during our stay though) cannot fault the room overall - The beds incredibly comfortable ( hate sagging mattresses and these were med firm and supported great bites sleep it’s worth noting also that there is coffee, tea etc , fridge and security safe ( in wardrobe) Houskeeper DOES NOT service the room daily unless requested so bins are not emptied or gofers, teas etc replaced but ask at reception and they will give you - there were spare pillows and duvets in the cupboard and plenty of towels ( shampoo etc supplied) hairdryer, iron and suit press This hotel thinks of everything- even an ice machine in the corridors for those needing ice for their drinks VERY HAPPY EXPERIENCE HERE If you decide to eat at the hotel - please try their beer batter fish- it’s amazing

As a suburb of Sunderland, Ryhope provides a useful base for exploring the wider area, but would likely not be a destination in itself, unless friends or family lived there. It is, however, easily accessible and within easy reach of beaches and places of interest (e.g. Beamish and Durham or the Northumberland coast). We ate out at two different excellent restaurants in Sunderland, which were only a few minutes drive away.
