It was a beautiful peaceful place where everyone said hello and struck up a conversation with us, absolute strangers asking how we were Even though I was a bit ill, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay Even took a trip into Dumfries for the day Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a quiet stay

historic town with plenty of history to find once you delve a bit deeper, towns small museum is worth a visit (unfortunately limited opening hours/days so best check before hand). Sanquhar is a handy central location should you be touring around the dumfries and galloway area and has a few quiet areas where you can wander off to and chill out. some nice craft shops within the main street. Crawick multiverse is within walking distance of the town and well worth a visit. Fuel for car is available on a 24hr basis. We ate in the nithsdale hotel restaurant, small but with a fairly reasonable menu selection, there are also other options within the town of sit in and carry out foods.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Nithsdale Hotel. We were more than satisfied the first time …. hence we booked there again when we were back in the area. We would highly recommend this hotel. The rooms, etc., were clean and the beds were comfortable. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We had the Continental Breakfast and we were more than satisfied.

Really well furnished and all the amenities were excellent.

Really well furnished and all the amenities were excellent. Views were great. Very quiet. Owners were very friendly & accommodating. I would thoroughly recommend the Granary. You do need a car as the cottage is quite remote.

Sanquhar is a great place.

Sanquhar is a great place. Locals are very friendly and welcoming. There is a good selection of shops and cafes. Plenty of walking to be done. We loved the FUN pool: it is clean and the water is a really nice temperature. The town is an ideal base for exploring the wider area, including the stunning Galloway Forest Park.

The hotel is situated in its own grounds, a little way off the main road. It is adjacent to the local swimming pool .It has a good vegetable garden and grows it's own produce. There are lovely rural views from the windows. We didn't get the chance to explore Sanquar itself as we were just there for one night and had a full itinery. However, the town is situated in very pretty countryside. Local sites include Crawick Multiverse, which we didn't have time to visit, but other guests raved about it. Sanquar is just a few miles from Drumlanrig Castle and Dumfries House, both of which were really worth a visit, despite the poor weather we experienced. You do need to pre-book your visit to both.

We stayed in one of the cottages - excellent space, comfortable beds, nice bath and shower (though it was hard to stop water from covering the floor), nice space outside. The hotel itself is a nice characterful building.

The hotel is located in a picturesque, quiet area, and the room is beautifully decorated. However, the armchair could use some cleaning and patching on the armrests.

The hotel is central in the village and has it's own restaurant. The food and cocktails were excellent. The room was spotless and had a great bathroom.
