Shrewsbury is a lovely County town, full of histotric character with many old (and modern) shops, pubs, places to eat, etc. In fine weather the walks along the river, which almost encircles the town, are gorgeous. There is so much to see and do here, particularly through the summer, that you need to do a bit of research before visiting

This was my first visit to Shrewsbury and I'll definitely go back - what a great place, a real gem. Lovely historic centre, a lot of independent shops and coffee shops, a good choice of restaurants and a wonderful museum. There are also a number of very active running clubs - people of all ages running around in organised groups in the evenings - all added to the happy vibe!

It is a very special city with lovely shops , museums and churches to visit. At Christmas time the city is beautifully decorated in the streets and in the shops. It is easy to walk around and my favourite place was the arcade in the main street, which was so colourful and welcoming. We ate at various little cafe's and restaurants, all of which were fine.

Beautiful historic town, good indoor market, lots of places to eat (especially the Yak and Yeti Nepalese restaurant for an amazing curry) and loads of charming old pubs (favourite was the Henry Tudor, ancient wood beamed pub with great beer, cozy booths, good food and a fire). Good base for hiking the nearby Shropshire hills and visiting smaller towns and villages. Could have done a week exploring Shropshire with Shrewsbury as a base. Will be back.

Rather nice old town to explore on foot.

Rather nice old town to explore on foot. Many old buildings with history which had not been damaged by civil wars, or World War bombs. Alleys and passages to enjoy meandering along. Golden Cross a good find for a restaurant after theatre.

The staff were friendly. The room was comfortable. I had a lovely view of the local church & a couple of bars. The hotel is in the centre of Shrewsbury, which is beautiful. Real oldy Worldy. Breakfast was nice. It is served to you. Personally, I prefer to plate my own, but it was fine. The restaurant has suits of armour, muskets, pikes, etc, etc & tapestries. The hotel is definitely worth a visit.

Excellent location. Taxi was £6.80 to the centre of Shrewsbury. Staff were pleasant, and the hotel was clean with a nice bar area. The room had a comfortable bed, and everything we needed for a nights stay ! The breakfast was complimentary and was of a good variety and standard. All in all, it was good value for money.
