The service offered by the owner and family impeccable. Very atmospheric place to stay, with lovely, cosy interior! The cottage has old (in a good way!) and traditional feel to it, with all of the modern comforts you might need. We stayed there in October, with the outside temperatures on the lower side, and inside was so lovely and warm! Additionally, working log burner added extra warmth and cosiness in the living area. Kim, whom I’ve liaised with regarding the cottage, was very nice and helpful throughout. The location was also fantastic, only short drive to Edinburgh and beautiful Pentland Hills reserve. I’d definitely visit again!

We were there to meet up with friends was ideal for a short visit and the area was handy for Biggar a couple of miles up the road which is very interesting Symington it’s self does not have much and the hotel is on a hill just off the main road

Symington is not somewhere you would rate.

Symington is not somewhere you would rate. Staying in the hotel and visiting Symington would not normally occur in the same sentence i.e. while you might want to stay in the hotel you would never think of visiting Symington - there is nothing to see.

Lovely hotel in the beautiful Southern Uplands of Scotland. Hotel staff were so friendly and helpful, and the hotel is lovely with stunning original features. Even though there was renovation works going on, we didn't see or hear any of it. The renovated functions rooms are beautiful and would be amazing to use for a wedding or similar function. Brilliant place to relax and unwind. Top tip - across the road is a gardening nursery with an amazing collection of rare peacocks which we stumbled upon on a stroll around the local area.

This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting just a short cycle or car ride to Biggar. The refurbishment is very tasteful and our room was most comfortable. We booked at the last minute and arrived about 7pm. The hotel was fully booked with a large coach party but we still received a warm welcome and the staff were on top of everything. A lovely breakfast was served with plenty of choice. There is a really large secure car park and beautiful grounds to walk around. We have stayed here before and will again.

The buffet breakfast was generous and good quality. The staff were friendly and efficient and the bedroom, though small, was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel sits in lovely grounds.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was really nice. Loved the original staircase, the grand piano and interesting piece of history to read. The hotel had lovely grounds outside.
