The room was as expected. A great four poster bed with a large bath which had power jets. Don't know how good the wifi was as we used our own dongle/mi-fi. Lovely clean spacious room with coffee and tea made available. Hot water within the bathroom was always of a good temperature (unlike many other hotels we've used in the past) . A cooked scottish breakfast was included and was cooked to order (great haggis). Also the option of having a cold buffet breakfast with pastries etc. The staff were great, welcoming and always with a smile. Thanks to everyone who made our short stay so perfect.... had it not been for a prior engagement we would have stayed a third night.

The hostess, Kim, was very kind and welcoming. Straight away she made us feel good. The room was spacious, clean and seemed recently renovated. The bed was very comfortable, the room was warm and the shower/bathroom was clean and had everything you could possibly need.

I was visiting family so didn't need to find much to do to entertain myself. There are a couple of supermarkets in Tain & glass blowing factory. Lots of distilleries around if that's what your interested in. I did drive to Inverness for a shopping trip.

Our accommodation and the restaurant that was very close made our time in Tain absolutely wonderful. We also enjoyed the distillery that is a very short drive up the road. We hope to come back someday soon and explore more of the area.

Tain is a lovely quiet place to stay in but i did not like...

Tain is a lovely quiet place to stay in but i did not like the restaurant at the Station. Overpriced basic food which i would not go back for. I wish i had gone to the Tesco along the road, bought 3 Rib Eye Steaks and cooked at home as it would have been much better value for money!!!

We used this as a stopover travelling down from Orkney to Fife, the hotel was "just ok" but having to go to another hotel for a cooked breakfast made the pricing structure a bit over the top.

It's a small town in the far north of Scotland, if you are looking for swanky restaurants and nightlife, you need to go elsewhere. If you want peace and a nice walk on the beach, then Tain is perfect.

Quiet area with several options for food and drink.

Quiet area with several options for food and drink. Platform 1867 a fun restaurant with good food, friendly staff and lovely outside area. Plenty of shops and petrol stations. We didnt make it to the beach as travelling each day. Great base for North East and West coast. Good road and rail connections.

On arrival we weren’t swept away but don’t be put off, this is a fantastic building with so much history and it’s truly charming, it’s run more traditionally compared to the new modern hotels and I really liked it, lovely bar with lots of character, and really lovely staff. The home made pizza was great and so was the beer. The rooms are a great size, very grand and great for dog owners. I really liked this hotel and would recommend.

This hotel was well situated for the highlands. Jim doubled up as receptionist, waiter, porter, barman etc. He was very attentive and made our stay enjoyable. The room was large and cleaned everyday. The breakfast filled us everyday so much we didn't need to eat until late afternoon. This is an old hotel with plenty of character.

Great little motel/hotel just off the A9 in Tain. Friendly staff, nice little bar and food available if required. Ideal stopover if on NC500 or visiting Tain or Dornoch. Secluded setting so peaceful night. Great price with good cooked breakfast included and only 15 mins walk into centre of Tain.
