This was just an overnight stop on our way to Islay from...

This was just an overnight stop on our way to Islay from Glasgow - we took an afternoon bus to Tarbert and got private transport to Kennakraig ferry terminal the morning after. The town was lovely, with a nice castle and a couple of good restaurants as well as a pub with plenty of whisky options. We might have even stayed a bit longer had we known it was such a lovely place.

Tarbert was a location I needed to visit for my book project...

Tarbert was a location I needed to visit for my book project. I had been here before. It is close to Saddell Abbey and Skipness Castle and the Tarbert Castle in town is worth the climb. Tarbert's history is also iinteresting.

Ideal stop for Kennacraig ferry to Iskay.

Ideal stop for Kennacraig ferry to Iskay. We were there with glorious sunshine so views of Tarbert habour were amazing, picture post card stuff. There are a few restaurants and pubs. The red herring restaurant seemed to be the local fish & chip takeaway, although it is a higher end seafood dining restaurant.

Tarbert is still a traditional fishing village.

Tarbert is still a traditional fishing village. Sadly the only bank has now closed and there are a few empty shops. But, there are some great restaurants and gift shops, beautiful scenery and this is perfect base to go sightseeing in the area. Perfect location to get away from it all and enjoy stunning scenery!

Right on the harbour.

Right on the harbour. A tidy town and plenty of places to eat. I dined at Cafe Ca'Dora and while not flash, it impressed me becasue they had plenty of staff and the meal came promptly. I liked it so much I had dessert.

Lovely fishing village.

Lovely fishing village. Have been going for years but not a lot of places to eat out. Ate out in the cafe but not your usual greasy spoon cafe. Food is great but closes at 5pm. Very easy to walk around.

The Fasgadh Rooms is a beautiful home. Our room was lovely and the views over Loch Fyne were stunning!! It was our stopover on our way to Islay but we would have loved to stay longer. An easy ten minute walk into the harbour town of Tarbert to lots of restaurants and shops. I’m so glad we stayed at Fasgadh rather than in the town. We had a very comfortable nights sleep and the room had stunning views. Thankyou Martyn for your welcome and hospitality.

The location is fabulous, great pub and cafe across the road with plenty outdoor seating on the harbour side by the boat for enjoying the sun. Our bedroom was spacious with a nicely presented interior. The view from our window was spectacular, it was lovely to see the sky reflecting off the water when the tide was in and watch marine life when it was out. Cleaning lady was lovely.

Great location, only a few mins walk into the centre and easy parking outside the property. Very likeable and welcoming owners, who also prepared a great breakfast. Fantastic views from the front bedrooms over the entrance to Tarbert harbour. Rooms were bigger than I thought they would be, well furnished, good decor and very clean and comfortable.

The comfy beds,the cute attic room in eaves of the house. The hotel was very tastefully decorated ( & I do love elephants,so maybe I'm biased) The breakfast was lovely,and views over the harbour from our room were great( even when Storm Babet was raging!!). A beautiful place that we would definitely return to. Keep up the great work. X
