Delightful picturesque location, nestled at the bottom of a valley. Over looking the donkey enclosure. Perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and life's stresses. It is a welcomed getaway so you can totally switch off and de-stress. It's a working farm guys so not totally quite but you will get a great nights sleep. Perfectly situated in the lakes for day trips. Also the farm has a small farm shop for eggs, veg and yogurts. Louise is a fantastic host, friendly and welcoming to her little piece of paradise.

Breakfast was wonderful. Rooms were clean and cozy. Ample parking right behind the hotel and an easy walk to the center of town. Our room also afforded a lovely view of the lake. The front on the hotel has a lovely seating area and garden where my wife and I had an evening drink from the hotel's honesty bar (well-stocked).

Had a fabulous stay. The host, Ann, was personable and Patrick and Rosalinda were attentive and entertaining. Many thanks to the chef. Food cooked to perfection. The drying room was an added bonus and well appreciated after wet days. Rooms were very comfortable. Parking was free. Warm and cosy atmosphere in relaxing areas. Beautiful walks to do around the area with creeks and paddocks. It was our favourite place after three weeks of travelling in the uk. Thanks again

Amazing location and was just 1.5 miles away from car park that takes us to top of Helvellyn mountain. Nice and easy under 10 min drive to Keswick which was very conveinent. Thirlmere Dam and the hike up the hill next to it is a good one to go around as well. The breakfast at Kings Head Inn in Thirlmere was very good..

Great little place if you want to stay a night after a big walk very cozy and comfortable the weather wasn’t amazing when we were there but added to the cosiness, of the little Shepherds hut hearing the rain outside had a great time. Would stay again.

The Lake District is so much more than just hills and lakes.

The Lake District is so much more than just hills and lakes. It is a place that is good for the soul and has some unique shopping areas. The coast line with it's seaside towns complement the hills and lakes. Just wish we had more time but we will be back.

The hotel, staff and food exceeded our expectations.

The hotel, staff and food exceeded our expectations. Real ale was well kept and a bonus. The highlight of the afternoons were the RAF jets flying up the valley at tree top hight. People would wait for their arrival.

The scenery is stunning!

The scenery is stunning! Shame about the closeness of the road to our bedroom window! A cooked breakfast would be an improvement! The room was tiny! I did have another 3 days booked for the end of September but cancelled after our stay! Find somewhere different to eat other than The Kings Head which isn’t as good as they make out!

Gateway to both the Northern and Southern lakes.

Gateway to both the Northern and Southern lakes. A lot of good restaurants in the general area, but book early if in a large group . Hoards of people so visit important places early e.g. Castlerigg stone circle is MUCH better if you're the only group there. You can feel its 4500 years age. Book steam ferries before you go otherwise availability might be low. Ask prices at tea rooms before buying. We paid £33 for seven teas/coffees.

The rooms were extremely clean, bed was comfortable and the hotel is situated in a fantastic location! This was my first experience at a dog friendly hotel and it honestly surpassed expectations, the hotel staff made such a fuss of our pup and the cafe is dog friendly with great cake and coffee, their sister hotel/restaurant is also dog friendly just a short drive down the road and the food was absolutely exceptional! Would definitely stay here again when we are next in the Lake District!

We stayed here for 1 night as it was the perfect location for our 6-month Lake District visit. The staff were very friendly and helpful, food was fab, rooms were very nicely decorated, modern but not too modern. Was just right for the building. It makes a refreshing change to see a hotel keeping the original look. Housekeeping was very helpful in assisting, especially the lady who did a little hoovering for us :) Big thank you to all staff for making us feel very welcome.

Great location, set back from the road, at Dale Head Hall. So it’s quiet but only 10 min walk to pub and bus stop, easy to walk into central and eastern fells from the door. Great views from the first floor apartment across the lakeside grounds and Thirlmere. Spacious, comfortable and functional apartment, new bathroom with good shower. Boot room available for drying wet gear. Good value.
