A friendly village with excellent community cafe, pubs and welcoming church. Ideal for climbing Blencathra, wandering local footpaths among lovely trees and sheep and easy to get to the Vale of St John, Keswick, Skiddaw and Derwentwater.

Evening meal was pretty good, lambs liver, mash, gravy.

Evening meal was pretty good, lambs liver, mash, gravy. Brilliant spot for 13km round of Sharp Edge and Blencathra as you can leave the car and walk from the pub. Threlkeld Coffee Shop was good with good service, gluten free cakes and snacks.

I normally stay at Keswick, but Threlkeld is delightful, and I could still walk into Keswick on the old railway walkway. The views are beautiful. I did a sponsored walk around Ullswater, which is nearby, and it is my new favourite lake. There are two nice pubs, otherwise small and quiet. It is a lovely holiday location.

Place we stayed was absolutely lovely 😍. With amazing views and superb walks. Shops are easy to get to and there's a restaurant if you choose to go there 😉, you will not be disappointed food was great and the staff very helpful. Very clean and dog friendly. Fortunately we only had a few rain showers overnight however, didn't stop us from having a fantastic time 😀 x

I would recommend it but make sure you stipulate that you want to stay in the Horse and Farrier or you end up in the sister hotel ‘The Salutation Inn’ along the road. Very disappointing not to stay where I thought I had booked. Saying that we were comfortable and had all meals in the H&F which were excellent.

Threlkeld is a very small village outside Keswick.

Threlkeld is a very small village outside Keswick. It is accessible by bus and the starting point to climb Blencathra. Castle Rigg Stone Circle is nearby and the village has a good pub called the Horse and Farrier (booking recommended) and a nice café for breakfast. If you are looking for somewhere quiet to stay near Keswick, you can't do much better than this.

It was nice and cosy and lovely views out the back, well equipped for what we needed as we ate out every day and only required the kettle and toaster. Good location for exploring the Lake District and the nearby village of threlkeld did good food at the pub and had good bus links to Keswick. We had a great week thanks for a lovely stay

We had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was extremely hospitable and knowledgeable of the area. We particularly enjoyed the hike up Blencathra from Scales which looks down on the accommodation. Amazing views from the studio. Lovely town with 2 pubs (horse & farrier great for food) and a good cafe at Threlkeld village Hall.

Superb views from the house, pleasing, quiet location in Threlkeld. Cosy fire in the lounge. Place was warm and welcoming and we had a lovely holiday. Excellently sited for a quick jaunt up Blencathra and to access the lovely Threlkeld Village Hall cafe and the cycle path to Keswick.

Location was exactly what I expected, fantastic for walking Blencathra which is why I picked it. And nice walks into Threlkeld. The food and ales in the pub were excellent, great atmosphere in there, very relaxing. The shared bathroom facilities were clean and in good order.
