Winchelsea itself is a fascinating village, plenty of history ,visit the museum and the church. Not a lot else there, but Rye, Winchelsea Beach, Pett, Farlight, are not far, and a lovely cafe in Icklesham.

The surrounding views from our windows were lovely.

The surrounding views from our windows were lovely. The Motel is situated in just the right position for our visit. We have friends in Winchelsea and Rye and it’s also close to Hastings and Tenterden. Also National Trust properties. Loads of walking opportunities and places to eat including Spikes restaurant at the motel One small downside was the pop up plug in hand basin leaked water when my husband was trying to shave.

Stunning village with lovely views and really interesting history. Great pub, shop and cafe, all staff super friendly. Beautiful countryside walks and cycling. Close to Rye and Camber Sands. The miniature railway from Romney to Dungeness is worth a ride.

The question as put means our answer is rather misleading.

The question as put means our answer is rather misleading. We did not have time to explore Winchelsea as we would have liked, but spent much of our time in Rye, a quarter-hour drive away and with enough to keep us busy ind interested for two days. We only scratched the surface of the possibilities of the wider area. In Rye, park as soon as you can in any of the car-parks at the foot of the hill and walk. There is masses to see, but the one-way system within the town can be a nightmare to the unwary.

Location was idyllic and peaceful. Hosts were lovely and available whenever needed, always on hand. Our spacious accommodation was perfect and we were greeted with a complimentary welcome basket on arrival. Winchelsea Village is beautifully picturesque and a lovely place to explore. Close to a little corner shop that has a large variety on offer including freshly baked goods.

Spotlessly clean, comfy bed, extra heating available but not needed as the Annexe was really warm even on a miserable rainy day. Right on the 1066 path we went a lovely walk to Winchelsea in a sunshine !!

Kelly and Alex were the perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble, and we wanted for nothing. It is only a 10-minute walk up to Winchelsea, which is the quaintest village in the area.
