Came to Oxfordshire primarily to visit diddly squat and the farmers dog. However, Witney was lovely and I would definitely come and stay again. Some really nice pubs and restaurants and also the market on Saturday was really nice. Only a few stalls but interesting. Come and see for yourselves!

One of the strong suits of Witney: despite being a smaller town, it punches above in food & drink variety. Whether you want pub classics, international cuisine, cafés or something more boutique, there’s a good mix.

We did not visit Witney itself but this country hotel with easy access to the Cotswolds and Oxford. The hotel has a comfortable feel about it both in the public areas and our rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had good weather but did not sit outside which would be lovely in the summer. We ate in the restaurant for the two nights of our stay.

The town is well laid out, car parking is easy and free! Many excellent chain and independent shops plus eateries. Can recommend the Three Horseshoes. Witney is located on the edge of the Cotswolds being a good base to visit Burford, Bibury and environs.

The Thames is stunning and worth a stroll along.

The Thames is stunning and worth a stroll along. Sit and watch the birds, fish, boats, dragonflies, and people enjoying themselves. The Rose Revived Public House and Restaurant is not for fine dining but you can have a wonderful meal and a lovely drink in nice surroundings. The willows and gardens are lovely. The waitresses like Ella are well trained and full of life.

We enjoyed the gardens at Coggs.

We enjoyed the gardens at Coggs. We ate outside at the Rowing Machine pub which was in the shade, very comfortable and our grandchildren played very happily in the playground and grounds. We tried to charge our Electric mobile home on a Sunday evening which was in the Lidl car park but there was nowhere nearby to sit whilst it was charging and nowhere to have a coffee and wait. Costa coffee in the Travel Lodge across the roundabout was closed and we tried to get a coffee and use the toilet at The Oxford Whitney Hotel the other side of the roundabout but were ordered off the premises by the security guard. I eventually used the toilet in the mini Waitrose supermarket and petrol station opposite Lidl.

A great reception from the staff as soon as we walked in to the hotel. Made us feel very welcome. The room was very comfortable, spacious and clean. We stayed for 2 nights and we were surprised to see clean towels on the second day and the room had been cleaned. Not something you get from all hotels. The location was perfect for our weekend, with easy links to the surrounding areas. We didn't eat at the hotel, but did have a couple of drinks and the bar staff were very pleasant.

To start with the good points. The hotel is located in a beautiful Cotswolds hamlet. Our room and bathroom in terms of decor and general amenities were overall extremely good and immaculately clean. The breakfast was more than acceptable, although the service wasn’t particularly attentive and the restaurant was quite cold, so much so that a number of guests were actually wearing either coats or scarves.

Fab location and a lovely host! Nice clean annex with everything we needed, Comfy bed, Great shower. Very comfortable and peaceful for a nice relaxed few days away to explore the local area. The main street of witney was a nice 10mins walk away and we walked down both evenings to enjoy some local pubs. I would definitely stay here again in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We were provided with a nice range of provisions which complemented what we already had. We agreed that the property was immaculately presented in a rather unusual location. We would willingly stayed a little longer as we didn’t explore the Witney area.
